I heard from my daughter last night that A School was on delay for six months. She was a little frustrated. She is on Enterprise and said it's easier to email than write at the moment.
She sounded so businesslike and grown up...lol...but at least...

Hi Lisa, thanks for adding me. So excited for you with PIR this up coming week. We originally thought our division was going to be the 13th but they were pushed through. I thought it pretty cool being on Friday 13th lol
I'm so excited about our new adventure together. You will find I don't know much of how things work-and I work full time and go to school at night so I have little time to research and must rely on asking people questions-and I ask alot! lol
Hey Lisa,
Did we figure out if your daughter is in DIV 394 SHIP 14 with my son? I got a letter yesterday saying he was going in front of a board for awards and he has to answer questions and then he hopes he wins sohe can advance(?). What is this all about? It made no sense to me and for what award? for what position? Have you any insights? My son K doesn't explain much.
Lisa, forgive me for intruding but I saw your icon and was curious. I have a group on here called Navy History and we love for moms to post pictures of their relatives that served. It looks like yours is still in boot camp. Wow, I know right where you are right now!! HUGS.
Carol
I was not sure how to find your comment but I hope this is the way to do it. My son is in Ship 14 Div 394 and I just got another letter today in the mail. He is begging for me to bring our Golden Retriever to GL when I come for graduation ceremony. I wrote back that it's just impossible. This dog is almost 90 lbs. and I'm limited to a mobility scooter, so he's a bit hard to handle in addition to it. Plus most of the close hotels do not allow dogs that big. I did find one that allowed animals but the dog cannot be unattended - which would be necessary during the ceremony. So I ended up booking at Springhill Suites in Waukegan and asked some friends to go with me since I'm not sure how well I will do with my mobility scooter at the RTC and going anywhere after graduation.
K (my son) said he's been sick - which was a bit disconcerting. He said he also tested positive for TB but it's not active so he has to take pills for 9 months. Thank God the Navy spotted it (I quote). I wonder how he got it. He says this week they are learning lots on WTI (weapons turnover inspection) and their compartment petty officer is hilarious (aka brother division's RDC). I think his brother division is 395 - but I'm not real clear about who is who and where they are. He told a neighbor in a letter from 8Oct that the girls in his div. sleep in the appartment across the passage way. He said his brother div. is working hard with the girls - that it's hard because the girls tend to "suck" physically - such as their first fitness test - during which 15 of them TOT'd (training time out) and their chief IT'd (intense Training) them for a half hour because of it. He just says it's more sweat (fitness is not a problem for him I guess). He said his compatment chief is so cool - (quote)"she will IT the shit out of us then give the most irrational speech ever so you feel good about yourself" So who knows what's going on exactly. But I thought I'd share what news I had when my son wrote to a female neighbor who is a friend from high school and she shared his letter with me. My son enlisted planning on going to A school across the street to become a corpsman. What is your sailor's future job? I think OS in your name tells me but I don't know what it means.
Also, do you think since no one is joining the group I started called SHIP 14 DIV 394 I should think of another way to connect with other moms who have kids in this ship and Div? If so, what's the best way to enlist all these mom's? I'm very computer obtuse.
My son's letter from Oct. 4 was disheartening. He was thinking that maybee this whole idea of joining the Navy was a bad idea. He said it's not overly hard but their division is terrible and he's afraid his division chief has given up on them. He said it seems like they have 2 chiefs - and the division one hates the. (I told him I truly doubted that and said to remember the olden days when he thought certain teachers hated him and they really were just trying to get him to the goal they knew he had to achieve whether he wanted to or not and that it may "suck" but to try and trust these guys. They are teachers too and have been successful getting young men where they need to be and that he can do it. Appearances may be deceiving and this division 1 chief may just be acting this way to get them to work harder at whatever goal he needs them to know - for their own good - it may save them someday - who knows?) Then he said maybe he just has the boot camp blues - which I agreed with. This letter was totally the opposite of his first letter whene he said the division chiefs for 395-394 were both great teachers along with the RDC's (just don't piss off the petty officers - his words)
