What a fun day. My nephew came in on the Boxer this morning and it was an awesome sight. They got in early - scheduled around 9, but pulled into view about 8:15. Still had to wait over an hour for the ship to be secured, dignitaries, etc., to dise...

Barbarajean - Read as much as you can about boot camp, etc. I joined the smaller but more intimate Navy-Parents.com when my son was in DEP (NavyforMoms didn't exist then). It was a Godsend and a lifesaver. I learned so much and was excited for my ...

Kris, my Sailor entered A School pretty much straight from boot (after our fabulous PIR weekend... not to be missed!). He was home for about 2 weeks upon finishing A School, then headed to his station in WA. This is an exciting time for you. Enjoy...

Sue - What an AWESOME story and you are an AWESOME person! momx5 - yes, our Sailor has a car, but he's married and lives off base with his family, so they need it daily. Good luck with her search!

I was nice to meet you too, I wish we had spent more time talking, but there was so much to see. Sam enjoyed showing all of us through the ship. I think we saw every piece of equipment DC is responsible for. Did you get to put on the fire suit? My brother and I did, and let me tell you it is hot and heavy. I can't imagine running the stairs in it.

I think we really lucked out on the weather. It would have been hard if it had rained.

Take care, talk to you soon

HI Liz! My name is Rene, I am a member of the Moms of IS group....and guess what? My son's name is Jared! He is a reservist, about 3 weeks away from graduating A school, so we're pretty new at the Navy life, but it is good! Can't wait to get to know you!

Hi, Liz! Welcome to the Moms of IS Sailors group! My son graduated from A and C schools in Dam Neck in early November and is stationed near Cambridge in the UK. He's attached to a NATO Intelligence Fusion Center there, but lives on a RAF base. He's only 19, an E-2, but he loves it so far! I'm looking forward to knowing you and hearing about your sailor -- Ellen

Hi Liz,
My son is an E4 I believe. He just called me this morning as he was heading to the ship for the 3 weeks he'll be gone (as you know). I don't remember the title of what David does-but he is on deck when the jets land and take off.

I don't live near Everett-in fact we live in Decatur, Indiana. We flew to Everett in Oct 2007 when our son's baby was born-it was beautiful. Hopefully we are going to be able to fly out again this summer. Do you live near Everett? Maybe a chance to meet you and your son if we make it out.

We are getting snow here in IN and it is coming down in bucket fulls. A blizzard is predicted for Northern IN and we are only suppose to get 3 inches-but think we have that already.

It was great to receive your E-Mail. Thank you.
Have A Great Day
Diana

Hi Liz, just checking in to see if your son is still on shore duty. Does his little family have any needs this Christmas, did all their stuff finally arrive in WA? Will they be able to come visit you in Ca for xmas? Hope so! Take care and let us know if there is anything we can do here. Happy holidays! =)

BC seems to be coming along for Katie. She sounds upbeat in her letters and is determined that she will graduate as planned on 12/5. Obviously, then the 'real' training will begin to prepare her for ship duty. It would be nice to get a phone call though. When your son finished bc, were you able to go to his PIR? Just wondering what she will want to do on liberty. Dec 5 will not be the best time to go sightseeing. Wondering if she will just want to hang out, watch a movie, call her friends, and catch up on facebook.

Thanks for the information about DCFN/DCFA - How does your son like doing DC? How about being on a carrier?
