Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
We have to stay informed! I have gotten back to Matt's recruiter to let him know that this website is definitely a must for him to give to future Navy recruits families. I have a much better appreciation for the spirit Matt has provided our family.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Thanks Lou~we leave tomorrow after work. I'll call you sometime next week! It was so good to hear his voice today and hear how proud he was that he was finally a Sailor! Sounded so tired too. Give a shout to Matt for us...talk to you next week. Big hugs, Jill

I am jumping out of my skin already! We spoke with him on Sunday for about 1/2 hour. Was soooo good to hear his voice and hear him laugh. I also spoke with his bunkmate from PA. He sounds happy and like he has enjoyed most of this experience. He told Bill that he misses home but now realizes how much he took for granted. They do grow up quickly there, don't they. Scott has Battlestations on the 20th so we should hear from him on Wednesday that he is a SAILOR! I know I will melt right then and there. Thanks for being here for me through these past 8 weeks. I don't know what I would have done without you and my "friends" on N4M's. Thanks so much for pointing me in this direction! I'll call you when we get home from PIR and we'll get together! Love, JIll

Hi Lou-
Got 2 phone calls from Scott today as he was being reclassified and needed info from me and also a copy of the birth certificate faxed to him. You'll never guess what his classification is going to be....same as Matt! I don't want to say too much on here as I never know who reads this and if I can actually say anything...get what I mean? Anyway, we also got a letter today and he's be made Assistant Master at Arms and the "stick" when they march ( he carries the flag). I can't wait to see him in 2 weeks! Big hugs, Jill

I always look forward to the Tuesday countdown with you! We heard from Scott twice this week...both times via letter. I was worreid with the 1st letter as he is worried about his classification, which he still does not have but today's letter was funny and upbeat. These weeks have just flown and now that we are only 3 weeks away from PIR the butterflies are starting. I can't wait to see him and hold him. We did book the Residence Inn, a 2 bedroom suite as we think Scott's girlfriend will be able to go along. Rachel has asked off of work so it will be a wonderful family affair! So glad that you enjoyed your time with Matt. I so proud of our boys! Happy New Year friend! Love, Jill

Hi Lou-
Got a letter from Scott today. He sounds so good! He was made Athletic Petty Officer for his division. He was so excited! Thought you could share that with Matt. We haven't gotten any phone calls yet, but another mom with a son in his div. said her son said that they can't march for sh*t and they won't shut up so no calls....just good to see his hand writing and to know he is ok. xo, Jill

Hi Lou-
Thanks for keeping up with my countdown. I woke up this morning witht the thought that this was Scott's beginning of week 4. We heard from him last Wednesday via letter. He sounds good. I would love to catch up with Matt while he is home and hear about his adventures! Oh...Scott lost his rate (job) that he signed on for due to failing the color blind test at BC. He is to meet with a classifier some time this week to figure things out. He doesn't seem to concerned about it so I won't be either. Have a wonderful Christmas with your sailor! Hugs, Jill

Hi Lou-
How was your weekend with Matt? Bet you hugged and kissed a lot and really enjoyed him. We got the box on Monday but the blow was softened as we also got a letter from him. They let them write letters home on Thanksgiving. He sounds good but tired. His girlfriend over in LaCrosse also got one. This morning I called his cell phone just to hear the voice message. I've made some friends through this site and we're really supporting eachother. One mom has a daughter in Scott's Division. Thanks for all of you support! Big Hugs...Jill

Hi Lou-
How do I get the address for Scott? Recruiters didn't supply one. Do I just wait for the form letter and that will have it on it? I'm lost!

Hi Lou-

Scott just left for Oshkosh and MEPs. We'll be going down tomorrow for swear-in. This weekend was joyous and awful at the same time. We spent quality family time together...Rachel came home and we did movies and dinner together. She drove him down today as I had surgery on my foot on Friday and broke my ankle last weekend. I guess when it rains it pours. I know Scott will do just fine but I wouldn't be a good mom if I didn't worry. We raised him right and I know that will carry over. Hey, you have Matt coming home this week. Have a great time with him and say hi to him from us. Thanks for being there for me...prayers, Jill
