Fargo Navy Week Aug 8-14, 2011

Hi North Dakota Navy Moms! I want to introduce myself. I'm LT Lynn Valverde, a Public Affairs Officer in the Navy Reserve. I will be headed to Fargo in August for Navy Week. The Navy is coming to Fargo and surrounding areas, bringing Navy assets like the Navy Band, famous Blue Angels, some Admirals, an EOD team, some folks from the Pre-Commissioning Unit USS North Dakota and a few others. About me:
I enlisted in the Navy when I was 18. After five years of Active Duty, I got out. Then I joined the Navy Reserves and have been in for ten years. My husband is in the Air Force Reserve and just got back from Iraq in January. I have a two year old son, Connor.

Lynn, I laughed out loud at your comment that he will realize he does not know as much about the world as he thinks he does. Being almost twenty he is a man-child. I am so excited for him to have some autonomy and see what the outside world looks like. I know he will grow tremendously being in the Navy. He also does beat with structure and discipline. He is the first to admit that. I am so looking forward to seeing the changes that occur. Thanks for the support.

Lynn, it was a pleasure meeting you last Sunday at our coffee meet-n-greet. I'm so glad you were able to join us and that you brought your smart and adorable little boy with you. We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.

Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!
