Do you remember the day that you got the call? Hi Mom I'm officially a sailor.

I was sitting in an all-day inservice day (that we have at the end of our school year each year), not knowing when the phone would ring. I had told my colleges that the phone was in my pocket on vi...

I spoke to my son in GC last night. He has been approved for a while. We are only 220 miles from there so it is within limits. I have talked to Karen Gallagher (since she has three in the Nuke fiel...

You will be so full of emotion that you won't even think about if it is OK to go down there! Once they make the Liberty call, that is the end of the ceremony and everyone will literally run to the floor to get to their sailor. It is an experience ...

One important thing is to get there early. It is outside and the chairs are set up on the level ground, so you want to get up close. They do allow folks to come down to the stage area and take pictures when the ceremony is going on. As you can see...

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
It is hard to "let them go" and waiting for boot camp to end is one of the hardest things I have ever done! But thanks to all my wonderful friends on here, and some very dear ones that I met through N4M that I still keep in touch with even though our boys are all in different places, I made it through. I guess the most important thing I learned is I have to let him go, grow up and fulfill his dream. And it is an awesome feeling to see him accomplish so much! My son, the United States Sailor!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger

Power School Graduation July 31, 2009

On July 31, Adam graduated from Power School in an outdoor ceremony in Goose Creek, SC. We stayed in the Villas at Foster Creek, which are on the base. What a nice place to stay, it was actually an apartment with 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath and two half baths, a kitchen, dining room and living room...along with a laundry room. All this for only $65 a night! The ceremony was awesome and Adam looked so handsome in his dress whites! After the ceremony, we went to lunch and then back to our place for ca… Continue

A Sailor Comes Home for Christmas

On December 19, after graduating A school and becoming a Petty Officer, my sailor son arrived home for 2 weeks leave for Christmas. What a wonderful time we had while he was home! We didn't plan much other than the family get-togethers, and there was on… Continue

Battle Hymn of the Republic

I received this in an email and thought it was something I needed to post. I hope it blesses someone's heart as much as it did mine.

Hey Lady...thought I would try again. Maybe things have died down enough now. I just hate not being able to brag about my boy. Talk to ya soon...

Hi Lynne. Yes, and we are traveling to see his A School Graduation which is tomorrow. We are driving to Goose Creek today. Robert is picking up the key for the Villas and I hope they tell him how to get there. We have been to Goose Creek before, but stayed at a motel in North Charleston.

Lynne, can you tell me where exactly are the villas? We are going to stay there but I'm not sure how to get to them.

Lynne, have you checked your PM? I sent you a message that way. Looking forward to Power School graduation. Hope it is not too terribly hot and humid!

Hi, Lynne - added you as a friend, and caught myself restating same info here... thanks for the alert to the picture company. That is as good a place as any to start. I would think they still have them available in their archives.

Blue Skies!

Lynn, do you, by chance have a copy of the PIR graduation (seems like such a long time ago, when you write the words) when our sailors graduated on 6-13-08? If you don't, do you know any of the other sailor Moms who might have one from that day that I could contact to get a copy of the DVD? If so, I'd sure appreciate it. Hope all is well with your Adam.

Lynn.....thank your for the compliment!!! When we were there for PIR - I was able to take the picture of Terry - my daughter took the picture of this neat old flag - then my cousin put the two together! It's one of my favorites! Thank you again - I'm glad I could share it!

Hi Lynn,
Yes I know... it has been a very long time I see that Adam is doing very well I know how proud you are of your son. I hope everything is well with you and your family. Matt is doing wonderful. He is in VA, however he just shipped out of Dan Diego Sat. for his qualification for his job. He is on the USS Carl Venson. but he is on the USS John C Stennis for his job quals. He was so excited. Well this year my husband and are expecting our first Granddaughter. Its our middle son and his beautiful wife. Matt is disappointed that he wont be here for the birth of his niece but we will take a lot of pictures and I'm sure she will absolutely know her Uncle Matt. I was up and you came to mind. Thought I would say hello and wish you a very belated Happy New Year. Take Care Diana

Dear Lynne, It is my turn to apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Jeff was home for Christmas and we all had a wonderful time. Then before I knew it, Jan 2 rolled around and it was time for him to leave. Gosh, I hope someday that goodbye stuff gets easier. (Unfortunately, I hear it doesn't) Well our new year isn't off to a very good start. Trying to decide what to do with my mother in law (nursing home vs assisted living.) One very good friend starting chemo this week for lung cancer (non-smoker) and another waiting for results of a breast biopsy. Doing my best to help and be supportive but sometimes it just gets you down. Thanks for letting me vent a little!!! Pat

Yes well all of my guys want (well Jacob is on) a sub. It is a nice things as there are less sailors and it is a closer community than on a carrier. Now mind you I could never stand to be on a sub (lol) but the guys think this is the best!
and as Jacob tells me the weather is always 70 and florescent LOL

God Bless
