Hi Margaret, thanks for the invite. I must have typed something wrong though. My son isn't staying on the TR. He is now at Whidbey Island, Wash. He got off the ship in Mayport and flew to Wash. Anyway, a new friend is always good..:-)

Keep in touch when you have the time.

Yes, my daughter and I will also be at homecoming. Matter of fact we are going on the Tiger Cruise too. How do we exchange personal info here between us so we can meet up at homecoming. Ryan is an ATC.

My daughter who teaches gift children tells me all the time that most teachers don't have the patience to deal with gifted/special needs children. It's funny my older daughter works with the gifted and talented (GT) children and my younger daughter has a calling to work with the special needs children.

Typically what happens is the GT student finish their work faster than most children in a regular classroom, and need extra assignments/challenges to not get bored. If they get bored, they get disruptive and like yours will fail. A private school can handle a GT student a lot better.

Hi Margaret,
Are you going to homecoming? The Roosevelt is Sam's first assingment. She is on the flight deck.
I noticed that one of your children is a Gifted teacher....oh man do I wish we had one here. My Son Dakota was in gifted when we were in Texas but now nothing. He went from straight A's to D's & F's and the teachers all just kept blaming him. Some of the honest ones admitted that they didn't know how to teach him.
We now have him in a private school and he is back to A's. He is still very disorganized, forgetful, frustrated at times but doing better. To tell you the truth there are times I'm not sure how to talk to him.

Sam had a blast during leave this time.

Thanks for the invite....

Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Always be supportive and communicate via e-mail and letters and packages often. There are so many that don't have any communication from family and/or friends. My daughter and I sent four large boxes of stockings stuffed with goodies and santa hats to the USS Theodore Roosevelt were my younger son is stationed overseas. My older son is also in the military in the Air Force.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger
