Hey Margie -
just checking on our 4.25 PIR families - let us know how your son is doing. Where is he at now? Our son just reported to C school this week.

Hi Marjie:

I was wondering if your son is Hawaii now and what ship he's on? My son is on the USS Hopper and will be deploying again in January. Have you had a chance to go to Hawaii to visit him yet?

Hello Marjie, just read about your son being deployed to Hawaii. Sounds great for him, but a good distance for you! Is he happy with that? Will you get to see him before he goes? Hope all goes well for all of you, and keep in touch on Aarons' wherabouts! Tell him to send pictures home! God Bless!, Linda

If you think you might get to eat with us at Pappadeaux's on Friday night, please go to the "Events" tab and leave some specifics for our June get together!!
We need to start getting some numbers!!

Howdy - It is time to get this get together together!!!

We need to start getting numbers so we can reserve rooms, get discounts, etc.
At this point in time our plans are as follows:
Friday, June 27 Meet at hotel: Hilton Houston Hobby Airport
(Hilton Houston Hobby Airport: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/HOUHAHF-Hilton-Houston-Hobby-Airport-Texas/index.do) (convenient for anyone flying into Houston) free shuttle to hotel $96/night if you book on Expedia.com, $95.20 if you prepay in full with hotel. Coyote has a call in to see if we can get a better rate as a small group.
Off to dinner either in Kemah (Kemah: http://www.kemahboardwalk.com). It's about a 20 minute drive from hotel. (I am talking to Landry’s and the Aquarium) or in Houston near the hotel. We will probably start gathering around 6:00. There are all kinds of things to do (rides, shopping, etc.) in Kemah with a family, if you choose to go earlier.
There are fireworks Friday evening at 9:30 in Kemah.

Spend in the night in Houston (close to Kemah and Galveston - but cheaper).
Saturday, June 28 - convoy it over to Galveston and spend the day at Moody Gardens (it is not just flowers - see the website: http://www.moodygardens.com). There is lots to do there, you can buy a day pass for $44.95 or just pay for the things you want to do with individual event tickets. (Range in prices, so go to their website.)

I will probably go home Saturday evening - but if you choose to stay, there is a lot to do in the area - we could help you make a mini vacation of it.

Please let me know on the blog on my page if you plan on attending. Please be specific (i.e. Galveston only or don’t need hotel or Kemah only) if you are only attending parts of it. We need to know numbers so we can get some group rates!!!

SOOOOO looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible - I know we will have a great time - We all have something in common (and I know I could talk for hours about it) - OUR SAILORS!!!!

Here are the websites again: (thanks, Coyote!!!)

Hello Texas Mom (and Texas Mom’s wanna be’s) -
I am going to start the planning stages of having a get together for all who can attend. It would really be fun to meet one another!!
I want as many as possible to attend. Therefore, I want to try to get the best time and city. Please go to my page to reply to the comment with the answers to the following questions.
(1) Location - I will get back later today with a run down of how many from each city. You could reply to this such as, “I live in Houston - but am willing to go to Austin” etc.
(2) Time - Weekend or weekday? - May, June or July? - please list specific times that you cannot attend - for example my family reunion is the 20, 21, and 22 of June.
(3) Ideas - especially if you live in one of the central cities (Houston or Austin). Do we just want a dinner together one long evening - attend an event - I would love to be able to participate in a parade on Memorial day together somewhere!!! HELP!!!! I really think just spending one long evening in a restaurant is fine and then we could go from there!!
(4) Any other suggestions - please list ideas!!!!
Just go to my page - “Brenda Bourque” and comment back - I am putting this in a blog on my page - Please comment back to the blog!!!!
Thanks, Brenda Bourque - Proud Mom of Derek who is heading to Guam - and all plans will be cancelled when he comes in!!!!

So glad that your family could join us, we loved meeting everyone. Did Aaron have liberty this weekend? We were able to pick Nick up about 2:30 and he was able to stay out all weekend with us, it was really nice. I'm hearing about a lot of classes being backed up but it sounds like they are sending them to the A school anyways. Nick started in doc this morning in GL and will be in that for 5 days and then moves to his A school on Saturday. Don't know if his classes are back up or not. Keep us posted!

marjie- We were going to stay at the Holiday Inn too, but found out the shuttle only leaves at 7:00 am to PIR and leaves base at 11:00 to go back to the hotel. We wanted enough time to be able to go to the NEX, and who knows how long it will take to get out of the Drill Hall after PIR. What div is your son in?

About me:
I'm a single parent of a young man who, his whole life has dreamed of entering the military. On February 28, 2008 he swore in as a member of the US Navy. We've always been close and never in my wildest dreams would have thought him joining the Navy, following his dreams with all my support would or even could bring such distance between us. I haven't heard from him since my birthday (Jan. 24th, 2009). I send him cards, letters, and packages regularly. As well as text him from time to time, with no response. I pray he's doing well and continues to be true to himself, following and achieving his dreams.
I ride motorcycles and have recently moved. I originally had planned to move and live north of Houston Texas. However, just after moving all my belongings there I learned my father (Navy WWII Vet.) has terminal bone cancer and was given a year to live. I've been here (northern MN) caretaking both of my folks, with my life on hold.
I come from a large family (6 siblings), 2 of which live in/near Las Vegas, NV. The rest are in MN. and IA. My folks have just celebrated their 65th wedding annivesary, amazing.
