jfree, that brought tears to my eyes! We can't forget the good people and loving hearts who are thankful for our kids and husbands serving our nation. That is a heartwarming story.

Thanksgiving question.... Groton is just under 300 miles away from my mom, my son's grandma, in central NY. He would like to go there for Thanksgiving since he can't come home. But is the distance limit 200 or 300 miles from base?

JMC18, Others who have been here longer can answer this better than I, and I sure they will. But I think the short answer is yes, they will get off in some form around Christmas...from what I understand things nearly "shut down" and they can leave...

Jesse keeps trying to get me to ship his pickup out to him. But that is way too exspensive told him he can wait till we all get out there! Yea some of the guys could use some help getting back to the barracks after a night at the pub! How is the weather out that way? The last couple days have been pretty nice here! Just hope the farmers can get their crops off before it rains or snows again! Have a good day!

Hi there! Yea Jesse said the same but class. Him and some other guys are pretty upset cuz a couple guys got busted with booze in their barracks and they were under age also. So everyone got cut back downto white liberty card. None of them were very happy. But they only got 2 weeks left! yay.. We are hopeing he gets his orders this next week. And then he will be able to put in for base housing. The guy said there really isnt that long of a waiting list if one at all, so hope it doesnt take too long to get into a house! Shooting for middle of Nov. If things go as planned! They could always change! The other day some of them got to do Damage Control. Jesse said it was pretty neat, and then got to miss out on PT the next day cuz there shoes and stuff were still soaked. So does Micheal have a car out there or something? Jesse had mentioned something like that. Well have a good day!

Hi Mary, Good to hear from you, and yes you did answer my last note, thanks
Lee seems to be doing pretty good, he passed all his tests and will graduate from Bess tomorrow, 10/22. I cant be there but one mom I met on here is sending her husband and he said he will take some pic's and email them to me, so I'm really grateful for that. I'm missing him again and so anxious to see him at xmas. He got some paper work that has to be turned in for xmas leave so I told him to get right on it, haha. He said although he's happy so far he really wants to come home even ifs its only for a week. Did you mail any of your sons stuff to him? I've sent a few packages and his guitar, I think I'm done with that now.
I'm sure your missing your son as much as I miss Lee...this last week has been harder for some reason. Were on the west coast and it just seems so far away from him. I'm busy with the other sons, one is planning his wedding and the other son just told me tonight I'm gonna be a grandma....I'm pretty happy about that.
Anyway, it was good to hear from you and lets keep in touch and pass along any news that we hear. Take care Ellen

Hi Mary, How are you doing and how is your Sailor doing? I talk to Lee often and he is doing a lot of studying. He said he's taken 2 big tests and did pretty good. I sent him two boxes of his stuff from home. Just having so old familiar stuff seem to really cheer him up.
Have you heard anything about when they might get leave at xmas? I would really like to make some travel arrangements for him, early. I realize the boys might have different dates but if you hear anything could you let me know. Hope your doing well, tqke care....Ellen

Yeah we are excited to be a family again.. Not sure when we will be able to move out there though. I guess he can't put in for base housing till after BESS so that wont give us much time before baby comes.. I personally don't know what to do cuz he gets done with BESS Nov. 6th or something like that and we will prolly have to be put on a waiting list for housing. So we are just hopeing we get something before Dec. I have a scheduled c-section for Dec.22 so I just want to be moved out there or at least know whats going on.! Yea Jesse said they have had some time to do things.. He ventured out to the Pub with a couple other guys last friday. Went and bought a fishing pole and tried fishing at the lake behind the barracks! When I talk to Jesse I always hear guys talking and havig fun!! Glad they are getting to hang out.. Once I get out there i will have to ask Jesse to introduce me to Micheal! Would be nice to meet the guys he's been staying with.

Hi there! Yea he was glad he got his first choice! Thats a bummer he didnt get his... But he likes what he got? I think ET-NAV was one of Jesses choices also. Guess they wanted him for FT though! I think the schooling is all different for each rate. Jesses will be 28 to 33 wks. And all out in Groton! So we are waiting for him to get his orders and then he will put in for base housing and what not. And they told him by the end of BESS he should have a house on base. So we are gona move out there then. Which will be middle of Nov. or end. I can't wait! I want to be a family again! And I think I am gonna talk to to docs about the baby and see if by chance I can transfer things over to CT.! I just hope it all works out. Is all of micheals schooling in Groton?

Yea thats about what Jesse said too! Was glad for class to start today, but not for the waking up and having PT at 6:30 this morning! But they gotta do it! Yea I am bout that. Got until Dec. 22. We are doing a scheduled c-section. I had alot of complications with my first one and idk if I can go thru all that again. It was really hard! I just really wish i knew what day Jesse would be able to come home for Christmas. Cuz I really want him here for it all. He wants us to move out there once he can get a house on base. Just really bad timeing! I hate being here and him all the way there. I am just glad he has some good room mates that keep him busy and going! Sounds like your son is likeing it there! Glad to hear! I kept telling Jesse to find him and maybe invite him out when everyone else goes out! How is the weather out in Georgia? It was really gloomy and rainy today..

Hiya Mary, Things are going so far so good....Lee just got two new room mates and says their pretty cool but then he says that about everyone, lol He started school and likes it. I sent him two boxes of his stuff today that he just had to have, lol Now he wants his car, I told him hold your horses buddy, he needs to slow down a bit. All this freedom is keeping him a little too excited. But all in all things seems to be going pretty smooth. I cant wait to see him at Xmas...I just wish I had some dates so I could start planning something, Im sure its gonna be one of those last minute things. Hope your doing good, take care ellen
