I always put any sailor or chaplain in the box that you mark what to do with it if it is undeliverable and the lady at the post office said don't bother because they will not deliver to anyone except who it is addressed to since 911. She said that...

I was in our local CVS drugstore yesterday and they had cards at the front that they were asking people if they wanted to purchase for $1 and you could fill them out and they are sending them to the troops for the holidays. The cards were really n...

I was sitting here reading all of the post and what everyone is sending to our troops and it is so amazing to see the numbers keep climbing. They are going to be one happy bunch when the boxes start arriving and possibly overwhelmed. LOL This is s...

Welcome mata5sons we are glad to have. Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions while your son is at basic training. It will probably be about 3 weeks before you hear from him. My letters always arrived on Thursdays. Are you going to his PIR?

Susan I know what you mean I think I heard from my son more when he was in BC! I thought once he got his phone I would talk to him everyday (or practically) like before, but that hasn't happened. I do have to say though that if he is where he can ...

I live in Silsbee which is just north of Beaumont. I know this is not real close but not too far away either. I thought that there might be a lot of moms around Houston - maybe not. How long has your son been in? Where is he at now?

Alaina your son probably knows this but I had heard that if they had a motorcycle that they were required to take a special course before they could bring it on the base. Might mention to him just in case.

I have 73 fleece scarves and will probably have 28 more to add to that total this weekend.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Support your son/daughter no matter what. This was the path that my son had chosen actually way before he graduated high school but it took me longer to get used to the idea. I was always proud of his choice but concerned. To this day that hasn't changed but I couldn't be more proud of the decision that he made to join the Navy.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Karen seems to be doing great! She is very busy as well with all her studies and duty times. She had purchased tickets to come home for a few days over columbus day weekend but they changed the liberty from 4 days to 3 and she decided it would be to short and too stressful, you know what they say about the navy changing their minds whenever they want. She was able to return the tickets for a credit for December when she comes home, I dont know if she will decide to come at thanksgiving or just keep those days for christmas. I wish we were closer than 19 hours. She says all the a to e kids are a real good group of people. I'm glad Matt is doing well. Keep in touch , I enjoy hearing from you!!! God Bless, I might add some new photos to my album recent ones of Karen. Liz

Hi, I used to work in Jasper, and I live in Deep East TX. My husband drives every day to Beaumont to work. I know just where you are! Have you been to a N4M get together in Beaumont? Its been a while since my last one in Waco. I have actually applied for jobs in Lumberton and looked into a rent house in Silsbee, but then I'd have to pay rent plus a mortgage and pay someone to live in my house to take care of my horses! Kind of like how moms feel having to hire a babysitter/place kids in daycare, and not make enough money to justify the cost.

I wish him the best--my son wanted to make a career of the Navy also. With today's economy I think the military is a good way to go.

Hi I live in Lumberton. My son was a Navy corpsman until his death last year. My son-in-law is stationed in Japan on George Washington. Hope your son enjoys the Navy.
