Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Encourage him to make good decisions. My son stands a better chance at the real world by enlisting. I also learned that I have to step back and let him become a man.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Just so you are aware, the detailer will only give him certain jobs to pick from. I don't know if Military Police would be one or not...depends on what the detailer thinks the Navy needs. I hope your son makes it...but I just wanted him to be aware that once he signs it..there are no changes no matter what the detailer says. Have a great day.

Michelle, glad to see your Sailor made it through BC. The next couple weeks are going to be a challenge. My son did not make it due to he couldn't hold his breath underwater the length of the pool. After they dropped him, they found that he had had pneumonia for at least 3 weeks. They wouldn't roll him back so he now is a Corpsman Medic/Dental Asst and is at FMTB. Just let your son know that if he doesn't make it and he has to pick another job, that once he signs that contract he won't be able to change it. Many Special Ops that got dropped have been given the Corpsman Medic as a choice but to choose it, they have to sign for C-School Dental afterwards. They then say that if you don't want dental that they can change it once they are in Corpsman School. It is not true. They will not be allowed to change. Just make sure you son knows that whatever contract he signs, he will have to carry out. Thanks...just wanted to pass that along and I hope he makes it to the next step. Have a good day.

Hey there friend! Welcome to the Moms of (graduated) Sailors club! :-) Can't wait to see your pics and hear all about it. It takes time to process it all! Glad to have you back. It was too quiet without you. :)

Michelle, do you have an admin for the Dec group? I created the October group and we've really done an outstanding job of bonding. And my son could not ship on Oct 5th and has been issued a new date of Dec 3rd. I wanted to ask the admin of the group, if I could develop some of the things we did in the other group to help get to know each other better.

Thanks,
Carole

Sailor rescue is a group that helps out. Below is the group site:

Maybe there is a mom/dad with in the Chicago area that could help. I searched the price of shuttles and I agree you can get a rental for about the same. Michelle, I don't want to sound presumptuous but can I help with some money. I could send about $100. I teach full time and work a little at the hospital.. at $35 an hour. I really can help some. Please let me know. I do not want to sound like I have it all but I have worked some extra shifts... PLEASE call me 806-671-0224 and know that I do not want to feel like I am special.. I just have some extra cash right now
