About me:
I am Mom of SR Tim. He is 20 yrs old, and just got married in April to a wonderful girl before he left for BC. She is also in the Navy! I have been married for almost 21 years. I have another son Chadd who is 10 and is an Apprentice Black Belt in karate (means he is one step away from a Black Belt!). I can't believe where the years have gone. Seems just like yesterday, Tim was in my arms and I was cuddling him so close. Now I have to open my arms and let him go and be the man he has become. Thank God I have Chadd! I am sure that the years will fly by with him also, and hopefully he will follow in his brothers' footsteps.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To stand by my son and support him the best that I can while he goes through this new phase in his life. To encourage him to do the best that he can no matter what happens. To be strong for both him and I as I know this must be frightening at first going to a new place not knowing what to expect. Oh, and write LOTS and LOTS of letters!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

My Poor Baby :o(

Here, Tim has an ear ache. His wife is comforting him because it hurts so bad. He is just getting over phenmonia which he had during Battlestations. He survived and is doing better!

Pray for my Tim :o(

Well, it's been 2 weeks today since I got the bad news that Tim is very sick. I posted a blog about him having to choose another program due to failing a test for EOD. Well, he chose another program (less stressful) and was doing PT on the 19th of August and had an asthma attack, they sent him to medical and from there the hospital. They gave him a breathing treatment and sent him on his way. From there he went to class, then back to his barracks. He couldn't even get up the stairs to his room.… Continue

From Bad to Good

I am just sitting here wanting to vent a little. Well, Tim graduated on June 20th :o) He signed up to be in EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal). We are very proud of his accomplishments during Bootcamp as the week before Battlestations, he came down sick and ended up with Phnemonia. He made it through BS (whew!) but during Liberty, he came down with an earache. He tried to be brave, but you knew he was in alot of pain. To the store we went to get some eardrops to help. So much for hope, as when a… Continue

Missed Tim's call :o(

Woke up late this morning for a car appointment. Went to breakfast with my hubby, came home, called car place. They will be waiting for me to bring the truck in. Ugh! Sitting there, it dawned on me that I forgot to call work to let them know I wouldn't be in (I work for family so it's no big deal). Talking to sister-in-law, phone beeps...an incoming call. Don't recognize the phone number so I don't answer it. Get off the phone with her and my other cell phone gets an incoming message. "Tim just… Continue

First blog since my son left

Well, today is yet another day. Tim left for boot camp on April 28th and all I have are the letters. They are far and few in-between, but they are mine. It's been almost 4 weeks since he left. Family is supportive and Thank God for my husband and youngest son. Without them, I think I would lose it! Tim was married to his Navy wife just before he left. I talk to her almost everyday, as she informs me of Tim's letters to her, and lets me know about the way the Navy works. She is also my pole to le… Continue

Hi Michelle!
How are things? What did Chris decide to do for school? Colin started a few weeks ago. He should be done sometime in August. He will be going to Norfolk, VA. He will be on the USS Bataan. It was just in Boston for the Fourth of July. He is very happy and of course we are thrilled for him. He seems happy and very focused. What a difference being able to talk to him as much as we do. What happened with the truck? How is Chad and David? Say hello to your mother and stepfather. What a busy summer! I got the DVD of the graduation. It is fabulous!

Hey Michelle,
What did Chris decide on for a job? How was Lake George. I got a call from Colin and he starts school on Friday. He is thrilled. He was tired of just cleaning. What did you decide about your truck? Say hi to your family.

Michelle, I saw your post about your son being yanked from his job. Similar thing happened to my son the day before PIR. 2 drs. had told him he was good to go for his rating of AirCrew and then the day before PIR they told him they had disqualified him due to mild kyphosis in his back. He had to choose another job as well. It is dissapointing to the sailors and to us. I just hope that the new jobs they have will be satisfying.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry for Tim and you and your family. First thing you do is throw out that EOD shirt that Chad wears, right now throw it away. No need for any reminders. Now, have another good cry for yourself. Next, have a good stiff drink. Feel better? You will! Now go to the websites and prowl around until you find something that he would like. Keep talking to him. He must be so disappointed. As for the car, I have been there. Maybe you can get it mickey-moused so you can have it for a while. I have no answer for that. You enjoy this weekend girlfriend. The worst is behind us. New beginnings! I wish I was there to give you a big hug! Take care.

Take care,

Hello Michelle and family!
Have a great weekend! We are going to NH with friends. We can go away now knowing that Colin will not be having a big party!
