About me:
"Preparing" for Mike's 8/22 departure for BC at GL. Would love to hear from other Moms who have sons/daughters departing at the same time.
Michelle , Atascosa, TX (just south of San Antonio) chelle3081@yahoo.com

I am here to support or represent my:
Michael DIV 395 SHIP 13, PIR: 17th OCT, 2008
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That I had SO much to learn! I am so eager to learn everything I can about the Navy. From Basic Training to his upcoming career choices ~ I want to know everything I can so I can be the best support system available.

Update 9/1/08: Although the above is still true, it pales in comparison to the realization that I was NOT ready for Mike to leave. I thought I was but obviously I was wrong. It is truly mind blowing how a Mother can be SO PROUD yet so heartbroken all at the same time.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Michelle,

How have you been? We are doing just fine (except for missing our boys). Sorry that I haven't written in a while. Keeping busy at school. How is Mike doing? Is he still in Fla? Ryan will be graduating A-school on the 20th of this month. Then he will be going down to Camp Lejeune in NC. He will be working at the base hospital for a while until he starts training with the Field Medical Training Battalion (FMTB).

I love the picture of you and Mike at the aquarium.

Talk to you soon.

Hey, Michelle- Thank you so much for the lovely Christmas card. How is everything in Texas? How is Michael doing? We miss you guys very much. Craig is in the Washngton DC area. Sorry I haven't stayed in better touch I will try to do better. Craig is getting used to being out in the fleet but anything is better than Mississppi. But he's doing great and we're all doing fine just trying to stay warm here in Iowa. Take care and you can send some of that warm Texas sunshine right this way. Big Hug!!!!

Hi Michelle, Got your Christmas card. Thank you! Conner is tucked away in Washington now and today is a bit gloomy. Meagan is headed back to Pensacola tomorrow and I guess I am already getting a little sad. All good with you and yours?

Hey Michelle, I'm also from Atascosa! sounds like we just might be neighbors. My son is currently stationed on the USS Carl Vinson in Virginia. He's air traffic control. He's doing great and ready to ship out.
