About me:
I am a very proud Mom. Anthony is our youngest child. He has talked of joining the Navy for a few years now. Anthony's Dad and I have been married for 25 years and we are so proud of him. I am at the same time proud and terrified.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
We have raised our son to be a strong, good man. We have given him all the tools he needs to succeed and now it is his time to make his own life decisions. We believe he has made a wise decision and is now committed to the service. We could not be prouder of our son. We thank the Navy for fine tuning and bringing out the best our son has to offer.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

PIR Weekend

The day FINALLY came!!! What a wonderful ceremony--so intereting to watch!! It was difficult finding Anthony is the sea of white--as soon as we found him-they all turned around-and then we lost him!!!!! We staye at the Residence Inn in Wakegan. Very happy with this hotel, nice suites, very homey. We were only 5 miles from the base, too us no time to get there and back. So glad we choose this hotel, Anthony was grad-n-go, but staying at GL, so after PIR we had just a few minutes and then he had t… Continue

First Phone Call

WOW!!!! What a great da, go my PIR packet and a phone call all in one day!!!!!! My phone rang on Saturday, 8/10 about 2 o'clock I think. I saw that funky area code and answered so quick!!!! "Hi, Mom!!!!" like music to my ears!!!!! That's my babies voice!!!! I have not been so disconnected from him before, I didn't realize how truly difficult this would be. He sounds so good! Confident, happy and calm. I asked him if he was still happy with his decision and he said Absolutely!!!! So good to hear!… Continue

Hi Nan,
Mike wanted to put in a chit to come home for his birthday and couldn't because they were going out to sea...however, they were going out for four weeks, not just a week. Good news is that he did know in advance what the schedule was. I think if Anthony asks the CO they would be able to tell him. Good luck and have fun!! Mike was at sea for that four week stint and they gave them four days off when they got back into port...so he didn't tell us and he drove up and arrived the evening of July 3rd! He spent two days with us then drove back on Monday! It was the best surprise ever!

Hi, Happy Easter to you!
Nice!! That's a cool picture. I love his car. How did Anthony get that pic? It looks like they are just driving down the road.
It looks like it will be a nice Easter Sunday, it's cool but sunny.
Have a great day!!

Nan, you have some great pictures, too. I see you live in Lowell. I love going up to that area. Maybe we can meet sometime. Now to try to explain a tiger cruise: Sometimes a ship is given permission to include family members other than spouses to join them on the last stretch of their return home after deployment. My husband and I were able to fly to Honolulu to meet our son's ship along with 43 other tigers to accompany them for seven days from Hawaii to SD. I slept on a rack in the women's quarters and my husband in the men's. We were able to spend a lot of time up close observing our son's duties and boy, he did make us proud! The tiger cruise gave us even a deeper appreciation for what our sailors have to endure in such tight living spaces for months at a time. I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to participate in such a monumental experience.

SAILOR BUDDIES...living it up in San Diego.
I had to scan it so it's not as good a pic as I would have liked it to be.

Yes, I heard about Anthony's new car. Adam was texting me that it was fun to buy a car with Anthony because he's relentless!! LOL He said the car is awesome!!! and fast....yikes!!!!! Adam is talking about a motorcycle.....yikes again!!! Adam loves San Diego. I'm sure they would both be fine if they had been stationed at different bases, but I think it's all the better for both of them that they ended up at the same place. And for some reason it makes me feel better too. I can't wait to see the pictures my cousin took of Adam and Anthony when they met up with her out there. I'll pass them on when ever I get them. She said that they both seemed really happy and that Anthony is so nice!! I got the full report when she got back home. lol

Adam asked if you would please send Anthony's phone number to me as he doesn't remember it. You can PM it to me. Thanks.
BTW Adam was sleeping and the phone was next to his pillow so he could hear the alarm.

If you talk to Anthony...let him know, if he doesn't know already, that he won't be able to call Adam on his cell phone for a while. His phone got stolen from his rack....Already!!! He wasn't even there for 12 hours and a fellow sailor stole it. WOW, I can't believe it!!! This certainly makes me mad!! So now I have to wait for him to call me back with his address to send him another one. UGHHHHHHH!!!
