Sounds great, I will probably do one package to begin with, I should be able to find some Packer or Badger stuff being in Wisconsin, so I will probably add some of that stuff. I will have to see what I can find. I was amazed to see that there were...

How long will he have to be in Maryland? Is he on a ship there? I didn't know that Maryland had any ports. You will have to educate me here, I'm still learning new stuff all the time.

Hey Nancy...
This month the Molly Adopt a Sailor project is all about Football! So pack a box with something that makes you think of football... Check the discussion on the Adopt a Sailor page to see what others are sending. The sailors and their favorite teams are listed about two pages back. So send some snacks or a favorite football dvd or team tshirts or whatever makes you think of football!

Welcome to Mollys Nancy, you will find a bunch of fun ladies with great ideas here. What does your son do? Where is he? My son is on the Carl Vinson in Virginia. He has been in the Navy since 2008. He is an ABF, and loves it.
Hope to hear from you soon. T

Hi, Nancy! About your sailor not being able to go to the hotel with you... I've read up on some of the older postings/comments about some sailors having to stand watch even on PIR weekend. I think it's the luck of the draw mostly, but I"m not sure. From what my daughter's boyfriend has send in letters, their watch duty or whatever it's called would last about 2 hours but they would be restricted to the base. I read one comment where a family and their sailor spent most of their Saturday at the NEX.
Hopefully, your sailor will not have to stand watch, nor ours, we pray.

It is awesome watching these new Sailors walk in the Drill Hall. You will get a chance to see your son do this. You sit in his Div on the bleachers so you are right in front of them. They sell Div t-shirts early and run out fast so if you think he will want one make sure you arrive early for PIR. We were there by 6:30 and in the Drill Hall by 7:00 or a little after. Scott was pleased I got him the t-shirt. Start the count down til PIR it will come fast and enjoy every moment. Make the week-end about your new Sailor and do whatever he wants. I took lots of pictures of Scott-he kept telling me he was going to hide the camera. I said I haven't seen you in 8 weeks and I want pictures. I am also doing a scrapbook for him. Good luck to you and your new Sailor!

If your child is in a 900 Div you will see them before everyone marches in. They do yearbook pictures and then they bring them over in front of the 900 Div so you can take pictures. They are never in a whole group because they have jobs to perform. The rest of the Div you will see when they march in. PIR is just the amazing thing I have ever seen. It is just fabulous. You get this sense of pride as you watch all these young men and women march in. When is you PIR?
