About me:
I am a Navy recruiter in Cedar Rapids Iowa. I have been in the Navy for about 8 years now and heard about this site from one of the mothers of a young man I put into the Navy shortly after I started recruiting. I know that websites like this one helped my Mom with my transition to Navy life and the support she received was outstanding.
The reason I have joined this site is because I know that there are probably a lot of Moms out there who would like to contact a recruiter who will not benefit from thier childs enlistment to ensure they are not being taken advantage of. So please ask me any questions you may have, that is what I am here for.
I am here to support or represent my:

Hi , you are right i would love to find out some a nswers to questions i have. My son is 16 and cant wait to enlist. He wants to become a Navy Seal he is determined and already working on his Mind & Body to get there. I would like to know what he should do to get ready to joining? There is no ROTC where we live. He knows how to swim but I am thinking he should take some lessons for underwater and endurance. please if you can let me know of any thing would be helpful.
Thank You

Hi. My son will have the rate Personnel Specialist and he will be still living for boot camp this late November. Does anyone out there know if this rate is good or not? i want to hear more from you. He scored good in ASVAB. When he had his classification, they gave him 3 choices of Jobs ,these are AD, SH And CS but then He ended up as Personnel Specialist. Can you give me some pieces of advice?

WhAt's the difference of YN from PS? Are they exactly the same?

And are there plenty room for advancement with this job?

Thanks and hoping for your response

Question---my daughter has completed a month onboard, a ship, realizing that this is not for her, where does she go now? If she request for another assignment, possibly onshore, will that be granted? Or being that she was assigned on a ship, she has to continue there? I am worried being that she does not feel good, has this ever happened before and what steps does she take now?

Hi. I have tried to reah my daughters recruiter several times with no luck. My daughter is about to be 17 and wants to sign up. I am not sure what questions to ask or where I can get information. How can she sign up at 17 and a junior in high school? All I get from my daughter about it is that she has "the coolest recruiter ever" I know he has talked about prostitutes and such overseas but that is not what I think she needs to hear about. School, pay, what job options are ect... can you point me in the right direction?

Hi,
Is it true that a new list of open jobs comes out at the beginning of each month?

My son just got back to Afghanistan after two weeks home in the Quad-Cities. We had such a wonderful time--we celebrated his 26th birthday at least three times, one of those times in Grinnell with his grandparents. One weekend we went to Great Lakes so he could get new uniforms for his next assignment there early next year. Right after he left, I found out that the recruiter who told me to "suck it up" (remember that?) is no longer on duty. I would bet you knew who it was even though I didn't tell you at the time. We seem to be getting to know a lot of CR sailors over here now--they're the BEST!

Hi how are you doing sis? Thanks for your continuously sharing of your knowledge about all my concerns.

So are you still in the navy or you have separated already?

My son will be leaving for boot camp this November. I was just concerned about his physical status. He was not used to involved in physical activities but then he has a strong body and good health conditions but then he is trying to work out well like trying to do push ups, curl ups etc.. Im worried about the PFT, how is it going ? I know that is one of the requirements to Graduate in Boot camp, but I m confident that he will Gonna make it! That's the Spirit.

Sorry for having plenty questions..

Anyway, what did you do in the navy and what will be the life after the boot camp? Is life will be going to be only at the ocean? Or maybe something? Im just curious about what my son's life will be?

How was your Navy Career Ma'am? Im proud of your achievements!

Thanks and Godbless

Hello recruiter, I was directed to you by one of the other moms, my question is about my son who left for boot camp july 29th and was supposed to graduate of friday sept. 19. He hasn't passed his pt2 yet, for whatever reason he can't complet his run, seems not so difficult to me but....he hasn't finished it. What happens now? I know he definately isn't graduating on friday but I don't know what they do with him now. Does he just continue to try, how long will they let him continue, will they send him home, what if he gives up, will he actually participate in a ceremony with another division when he does complete it....what about A school? I have no information at all other than we had to cancel plane tickets, hotel etc. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.
