Hi again MaryKelly, I just checked the website above. Are these cards good for the exchange at GL? I'd hate to send him one and then have it be of no use to him yet. Thanks, Roni

I understand that this is the card they use at the exchange/commissary to purchase items that they need. I understand that they were given a $150.00 NEX card for these items when they got there. But I also understand that this amount also comes ou...

Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
All the men in my sons father's family have been in the Navy. Proud of my son for an opportunity that offers a life long career and for following the tradition of his family.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Today is the day....

My boy is headed for the MEP Center this afternoon, then off to Great Lakes tomorrow AM. Mom is actually holding up fairly well today, have been bawling all week, think I may actually have the "faucets" under control now. He is going to have a great experience and he is going to just fine....Mom is soooo proud...and she will be fine by this evening too.

Roni: My son said that the first 3-4 weeks were the toughest..After that he was enjoying the process...I cannot express how much he changed in 8 weeks. Now he is excited about his future. He used to be a sassy kid, now he is a mature young man with goals for his future. I was blown away by the changes in him. I think his choice to go into the NAVY was the very best choice he could of made...keep me posted on your sons progress!!

Hello Navymomroni!
My son left on 11/4, one week from tomorrow. It is really tough but it seems to be getting a little better for me, at least (finally!). So hang in there and know that we are all in the same boat, and we are here for each other. I hope you are doing okay. Just know that you have a place here to go to share the tears and the joy! You are right, it really is a "Mom" thing. God Bless you and yours.
