Amen, I could not have said it better myself. And no, enlisted recruiters do not get credit for officers coming in, that is a different recruiting department.

I agree that the NAVY provides a lot of opportunities for young men and women, but there are also NAVY programs that pay for college tuition and provide for allowances while attending to obtain a bachelors degree.. With that she would be making a ...

Thanks for backing me up in the "Daughter having second thoughts" discussion. I joined the Navy with a similar background as you indicated (good h.s. student with some college). I was accepted into an officer program back in the 80's, so I know that it can be done, but I would have also looked into my option of continuing my degree through NROTC before I joined as enlisted. I can't complain; as it stands, I met my wonderful husband through my enlisted status and I ended up where I wanted to be with a degree, but I really don't trust recruiters!!! I cringe when I hear about a young person with potential that these guys drool over to meet their quotas. They don't care about the kid as much as their own record!
Thanks again, and many blessings for a happy and safe delivery of your first child!

Hi Nicholas!!! I remember Chrys mentioning the name "Wallace" thats so cool!!! Last I heard he is still subs so it is possible that you could be stationed together. I know he picked Washington as a home port but also picked one on the east coast to stay close to his girlfriend. I will keep you posted. Take care of yourself. -Karen

Hi!!! He just passed his boards yesterday; two more guys in the house need to pass and he thinks he will know where he is going in about a month; nice to hear from someone who went to school with Chrys. Am I correct to assume that you chose to stay in Goose Creek instead of going to Ballston Spa or were you ahead of him at Ballston Spa? PS What is your last name so I can tell Chrys next time I talk with him...he gives me a bad time when I mention first names because you guys are all on last name basis. lol

Welcome aboard! Thank you for your service to our country. I had to smile at your 'Never Volunteer' comment. My son is a Nuke MM who has been out in the fleet for about one year.
But, I am not so sure that 'The lessons learned in the Navy could have been learned anywhere' is entirely true. Although, I have never served, I am confident that the military does things a little differently than the outside world. My best to you and Lisa...Have you been thru prototype yet?
