Hi Carol, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat

Hi Carol. My son was in ship 04 div 841. I do not know if you received my post. I'm not computer savy. Still learning. He has been sent to the hospital (another ship). That was last night. Do not know much as of yet. He said he would call me back in about an hour. That was 5:15pm eastern time. As of 1:34pm today I have not heard anything. I'm a little stressed worring about him. I have to learn to put it in God's hands. He was sick when he left - 102 fever and URI. They said he would see a Dr when he got there. I got my first packet of letters. How wonderful that was, then the phone call. I wish I new what was going on. At least I have work to keep my mind off things for now. I just want to get home and check my voice mail to see if for some reason he or someone else called the home instead of the cell.

Hi Nick's Mom. My son Terry is also Ship 4, DIV 840. I have gotten 2 letters so far, hopefully another today. His girlfriend gets more letters than me. HA! Terry seems to be doing well. States that since they will be staying in Great Lakes after PIR, that they will be able to be with us Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. He didn't say, but I think they have to be back at base at night. His letters are short, but so far he seems to have a positive attitude. He is only 18 and said that he seems to be one of the only ones leaving home for the first time. But, the group is so big (70, I think), I wonder if they have gotten to know everyone yet.
