If you are in EST Guam is 15 hours ahead right now. If you add 3 hours to our time & change AM to PM (or vice versa) you know what time it is there. My son has been there since early November & is loving it. He's already gotten his first certificati…

Thanks Karen & Patricia! I'll have him check out shipping the car, but I think that he too thought it would be faster to buy one over there. I'm rather surprised he didn't start looking immediately, but he & a buddy rented a car & toured around a bi…

Thanks Patricia, I'm on the eastside of Cincinnati, in Anderson Township. Where are you? I've really enjoyed reading up on all the comments from Guam Moms. You can sure learn a lot on this site!

Karen, Where did you have to take it to be shipped? He was under the impression that it would take a lot longer than 30 days. We were just going to sell it & send him the money for the next one, but that might be a faster way to go if he can't find…

Thanks Kathy, I'm glad to hear your daughter loved the island. I hope my son will too. I'll suggest checking the base for a vehicle. Right now he's just a bit frustrated because he doesn't have wheels, doesn't know where things are, and evidently th…

Our son is now in Guam! We sure enjoyed having him home for almost two weeks before we had to put him on that plane. He's really excited about being there. Of course, I sure wish it were a bit closer to home - he'll miss his sister's wedding next mo…

Thanks for all the information. Guam is my son's first base out of A-School, so he's just getting started. He really doesn't have a lot of furniture, etc. since he moved out of our house & into the Navy, so it sounds like he may do just as well gett…

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
He's where he's meant to be. He's happy! He's working hard & is successful. What more could anyone ask.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

If your son needs his car shipped have him inquire about that stuff now, they will have to arrange that prior to him leaving base. To my knowledge they arrange it all right there on base.

Guam - Gee, I'm not sure what he should ship. My son shipped his car to Hawaii so they would have a car there. He's married so they got a house when they arrived and they did ship all their furniture too. Sorry I couldn't be more help to you. :(

I have not made it over there just yet. Yes, we can definitely compare notes...lol. My son has had a great time over there so far & manage to meet a bunch of great guys. One great thing about this is they have an awesome crew, they all look out for one another. I see you are friends with Recinda, she is a GREAT momma & have had a great opportunity to meet her, give her a hug for me the next time you see her.

Hi Pam, I see that you said something about a video from the Graduation? Is there one available? I did not make it up there but Mic's wife did and I only got one picture. Would love to have a video. He graduated with honors and I hope he can keep it up. By the way, Micky has decided to go into communications. Not sure exactly what, my memory is not what it use to be. Ha Ha. I understand there were a couple of sad situations that happened up there last week, did you hear anything about that? If you want, email me at wolfnanny@gmail.com. Have a great day and look forward to hearing from you. Amy

I won't be much help from the Groton side of subs as my son went subs from Nuke school, which means that he won't go to Groton, unless the Navy sends him there as part of his active duty or later during his reserve duty.
