Thank you ladies for making yesterday's Central Florida Mom's Packing Party a huge success. I am sorry that I had to run in and run around like a chicken with head cut off and then leave but still more on my agenda - LOL. Thank you all so much for...

Profile Information

About me:
I’m a 40something mom of two. My oldest – Jaymes – is studying film and editing and hopes to land a job with a TV station working the camera. My youngest – TJ – as you know is a Navy Nuke on the USS George Washington. When I’m not working (I’m an office manager for an antiques broker) I’m either singing with fellow musicians, going to Orlando Magic Basketball games or Orlando Predator Arena Football games (huge fan of both), hanging out with my friends, playing with my dog, cat, and parrot, coordinating ‘grown up’ nights for the adults at church….oh, yeah, and kicking around with my hubby Ted.

When TJ first told me that he wanted to join the Navy, I was very apprehensive (but I kept that to myself). My dad was an Army helicopter pilot and was killed in the Vietnam War in 68’. My first reaction to my son’s decision was an internal “NO! THE MILITARY TOOK MY DAD, I DON’T WANT THEM TO TAKE MY SON!” But after much soul searching, I came to realize that my son is a young man, free to chose his path in life, and that I need to let him follow his own path. My dad lived and died doing something he really loved (flying and defending his country). Shouldn’t my son have that same right? Once I made peace with that, I became very comfortable with my son’s choices. He’s very happy with where he is in his life…and I’m happy for him.

I have a great husband, good friends, awesome pets (I can never leave them out…LOL), and I have two wonderful boys. Neither one has ever been in trouble with the law, involved with drugs or gangs, or ended up dead on the streets. When I watch the news and see that children, that are my son’s ages, have fallen into those traps, I know how very blessed I am.

And now I’m blessed with the N4M extended family….
I am here to support or represent my:
Teddy (T.J.)
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Pam, Hi, can you tell me Mary Penn's Navy for Moms name, I want to put her on another page as a resource for her Shivers, and I don't remember her name. So they can contact her through pm instead of the web site she has. Thanks so much

Hi, I tried to email you but it did not go through. I have not found any snoopy fabric here. There is some online, you would have to look at them and let me know which one you like. What color do you want the main part of the purse? I can put the Orlando Magic fabric on one side of the cover and the snoopy on the other so it is reversible.

Pam, I wanted to check on you, are you Ok? I know how hard it is not to be with him during his birthday. My son's birthday is New Years Day, and he was on the CV, and could not come home. I did get to talk to him though. Keep your chin up and know that he is thinking of you and the time you spent together on past birthdays, and he will smile, I'm sure, knowing how much his mother loves him.

Pam,

I am so sorry about your Dad. Just reading your profile again and notice he was killed in Viet Nam. You must have been a small child. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mom when I was 3 so I know.
