About me:
I live in a small, East Texas community. I enjoy the country life and still work full time even though I am nearing retirement age. I am the daughter of a former Marine now deceased, wife of an former sailor, sister of a former Marine and of course, mom of a young sailor. I am very proud of my son's decision to join the Navy after collegeand believe this is the best path for young adults.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I have to say that I have not had much experience beyond these early months. But, I have been very impressed with the sense of community and generosity. I hope I can return the kindnesses shown my family to others who are seperated from their loved one.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

PS I know where Mt. Vernon is. There is a pretty famous horse trainer named Van Hargis that lives in Sulphur Springs and I know someone in the ApHC that lives in Mt. Pleasant - been to their ranch. You are right smack dab in the middle!

Wow, I would like to ask you a huge favor. Could you find some pictures and scan them and download them on the Navy History Group on here? I love to see pictures of those who have served back then. We all do. I had two cousins and one brother in the Navy during Vietnam.

Hi Patricia, I agree that we should stay in touch. Has Trevor deployed yet? Matt left from San Diego on the Nimitz on July 29th. So far they've made two port calls ( Yokosuka & Hong Kong). He seems to be really enjoying it. In fact, this deployment has been extended to just under 8 months and Matt seems fine with that. I don't know how I'm going to handle this, but I guess I have no choice.

Welcome to the AECF group Patricia. We have some other Texas moms in the group as well but I don't remember anyone on the Enterprise at the moment but that changes by the day here!

Hi Patricia,
I met Trevor in Charleston. My son, Matt, was Trevor's roomate in the apartment the last 6 months, and we got to enjoy a dinner with your son when the boys graduated Power School. It was our pleasure to meet him. I know he was a great influence on my son, and I wish him all the luck as he starts his Navy career. Cindy

Trevor graduated 6/19/09 and is home with us for a few days. I would like to hear from other moms/wives/sisters/girlfriends of other Nukes who will be serving aboard the USS Enterpise. I know I won't hear from him often and it would give me a since of connection. He only has one other person from his group that he knows will be there too.
