Hi Patti,
My name is Stephanie. My husband is thinking about choosing Tinker AFB for his next command. I was curious if your daughter liked it and whether she goes overseas frequently or at all?

Hi Patti, can't believe it's been almost a moth since I last spoke with you. Josie has a car, a Ford Falcon'05, it has good gas mileage and under 50,000 miles on it. She has not come home yet. She has a new boy friend and seems very happy. How is Tarra? I have been a Taxi service this summer but I don't mind. I get to read my bible while I'm waiting on my youngest to finish classes. He is taking dual credit courses. Next month the class will be in the afternoon and only one class. We are well and hope you are too.

Hi Patti, Just wanted to say hi. We went to see Josie yesterday, the time went real fast. She is doing good and I got to meet Cindy and her two children ( they are real cute). I'm sorry I didn't get to see Tara. Hope all is well with her, how about you? My older daughter went through a small crisis but God is bringing her through it. Josie is still looking into cars, she is looking at the Hundi(spelling) Depends on if she can get a loan with the Navy credit union. So far she is doing OK without one but the base is pretty large so she will need to get one soon. We brought her a small crockpot and toaster oven for her birthday. She says she rarely eats at the commissary. I brought her slice and bake cookies that she can make in the toaster oven, for a 'touch' of home!

Patti I am so sorry that they are so mean. All I can think of is that God will deal with them. They store up earthly treasures but at what cost? I pray you and Tara and family have peace in your hearts. They will always have memories of their dad and no one can take that away from them. I will pray that one day they will share his medals with Tara so she can give one to her little girl. Big hugs to you.

Jim went to see Josie last weekend, he said that Cindy had taken Josie for her first ever manicure, nails and toes! and she had her eye brows shaped. She is even wearing a small hi-heal now. Needless to say most of her money has gone to get new "girly" clothes. Next she will be wearing makeup! haha. She has also met an other girl in the barracks behind her named Emily and they seem to hit it off so I'm happy she is adjusting well to Navy life.

Hi Patti, Did all go well? Did you get to visit with Tara at all? How is your granddaughter? We had our 2 great-grandchild two weeks ago and they live in OK. We are hoping to come up for Josie's BD on May 17th and swing over to see the little one (Ashtyn) She was a big girl--9.6 lbs.!! My best to you and yours and keep me posted. hugs, L.

Oh Patti, I did not know about Tara's Dad. Your post just came up today ,it's 9:06PM Josie has been out of pocket on "manuvers" somewhere for about a week so I did not know. How is Tara doing? How about you? I will pray for you both and I am glad the girlfriend is willing to give these medals to Tara, what a wonderful keepsake for her.

Hi Patti, Been thinking of you too. Josie is signing lots of papers, getting her uniforms (the new work ones) tailored to fit her, and has decided she does not like the mess hall because all they serve is Chicken, chicken, chicken! She is talking about getting a car and who has the better insurance. She is going to get it here in Tx. as we do not have as many taxes as OK. She has met a girl from Burleson, not far from where we live who has offered to drive her on occasion till she gets her own transportation. She has gone to eat with Cindy a few times ( I was happy she went with her on Easter so she was not alone foe lunch) She seems happy and is waiting to get into the swing of things. I do not think she has met your daughter yet. Oh the big ta'do with the patches, we ordered them on line and they got here in the nic of time, then she heard they were not going into whites till May. At least she is ready and will have them sewn on by the time she needs them. All seems to be going well. Hope all is well with you and if you ever make a trip to OK let me know and maybe we can meet. Thank you so much for being here for us.

Thank you Patti, Josie is a little miffed with me as she is a Big girl now and can figure out her own dilemma's! lol She says she can rent a car and go back to San Antonio (6hrs. each way) buy what she needs and then the following day head north 4hrs. Well it is a plan! but I'm praying that there is some thing simpler than that. Thank you for asking Tara to call maybe they have a better solution to this problem.

Patti, I have a favor to ask---Josie's rating badge and stripes came up missing. She thinks the girl who was in her room some how backed them in her bag and Josie doesn't have them now. She went to the air force base that is here( it is small) and they were out of Navy gear. There is no where else to go and she has to have them sown onto her whites before she signs in on Saturday. She is going to leave early Fri. but it is Good Friday and the base store may be closed by the time she gets there. Can your daughter call Cindy and ask what can be done? Is there any way one of them might be able to purchase the rating badge and stripes and Josie reimburse them when she comes in? Please ask Tara to have Cindy call Josie about this so we can figure what to do. Don't want her to make poor impression on the first day and maybe even lose rank because of it. Your help is more than appreciated.

About me:
I have been a proud Navy Mom now for almost 4 years. My daughter has served in Bahrain and just this past June came home after a year at GTMO, Cuba. It doesn't matter how they are you never stop worrying about them and when you know they need you it is the hardest thing in the world to know that you can't go them to help. Since being in the Navy my daughter has blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter. They are now finally together in Oklahoma City after being apart since she was 3 months old. Jocelyn will be 3 in Febuary, 2009.

The most important and hardest thing I have learned as being a Navy Mom is to be patient. The Navy has it's own time table and direction. Nothing is ever for certain until it actually happens.

It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Encouragement

Emily,
I just read your blog and felt compelled to offer you some encouragement. My daughter has been in the Navy over four years now. I remember like it was yesterday the time she was away in boot camp. It was hard for me mostly because you want to hear their voice and they are in a place where they do not have control of their lives. The Navy's job in boot camp is to tear them completely down then build them back up into the sailor's they will need to be to do their jobs. The letters you will… Continue
