OK, I have a question....Lauren is the top of her AT class. She and two other sailors with gpa's just under hers have been chosen to get some award(?). This is where I'm not sure what to call it. She said they each have to write a paper telling wh...

Julie, I think there are Rescue Swimmers that are on land....there is a base in Nevada and they do "dry" rescues in the mountains and such. I found a website for the group one day. I'll see if I can find them again.

A Letter to Lauren and other thoughts

Wow, eight weeks. Time has crawled yet flown by at the same time. Who'd a thunk we could go 7 weeks and 1 day without talking to each other? That sucked big monkey bxxls. Yet, once I talked to you, all was right with the world. My baby was ok, you survived. You didnt need me to make everything all right. You are taking care of business yourself and doing it in a large way.

Is it hard? "Absolutely Mom." Does it suck? "Absolutely Mom." Is it rewarding? "Absolutely Mom." Are you having fun too? "L… Continue

Sorry so late getting back to you, I just got back from P-cola...helped Mikki drive her car back home. I have her for the rest of the week then off she goes. I stayed on NAS at the Gateway Inn and Suites. Mikki made the arrangements, I think the sailor has to do that part although anyone can stay there. Very nice again, no complaints. The room I had this time was huge! I was there from Tursday until Friday AM when we headed off to Maine.

Hey there! Long time...Mikki grads on 05 June and then off she goes shortly after....we get 21 days with her, you know what that means! She will go to Portland, Oregon for part of the time to see my folks, the rest of the time re-packing so they can come pick it all up and take it away...WAAAAAAA That'll be a sad day! Hope all is going well with you and Lauren!

Thanks, now I know. I'll know for next time, his going away party turned out very good, he invited a bunch of nice kids. I'm tired though, I can't believe he is shipping out tomorrow! :(

Arg, wish I could join ya! I miss Mikki so much already. If there is still a wait for "C" school she will get leave after grad in late May before she goes to fleet, either 11 or 21 days depending. Kinda hoping for only 11 cause then she'll still be stateside and close enough to see.

I agree, the base is nice...both of them. We stayed at the Inn and Suites on NAS which I guess is not the lodge but it was nice, very clean and everyone was helpful and very friendly! Add to that it was only $39.00 a night and it made for a good location, only minutes away from Mikki! She is doing well with her classes, the only info she gives out is her test scores. She is a little disappointed with the Navy pride of most of the Sailors. She does not get how they can put on their uniform in the morning and NOT feel an enormous sense of pride. I guess it has really become an issue, at least at Corry.

Katie has been there since 2/10. She is there for AM (Aviation Structual Mechanic. She was going to go Aircrew, but changed her mind. It is so hard when they are so far away and you can not talk face to face. She was so positive until this. I actually just talked to her and she sounded a little better.

We would love to have you and your daughter, but will understand if you can not make it. I can not wait to go to P-cola and see Katie. My parents and my other daughter are going up there for a week. They leave Saturday.

It was great, I posted a blog. We were really lucky! The Blue Angels did 2 fly overs the first morning we were there and now one of the Twins, Ella has decided she is going to be a BA pilot...lol!! Everything from that moment was BA and yes, she has the T-shirt. We enjoyed the sun, warmth and holding Mikki! How is Lauren doing...where is she? We stayed at the Inn on NAS, nice rooms, very clean and the people friendly and $39.00 a night. Check out Mikki's tattoo on my pics...I think you will get a kick out of it. Lots to do around here to get up to speed...Hope you guys are doing well!! And I really hope to meet you someday!
