Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
In the NROTC program
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
There is a lot to learn and I have to be patient. I also have to try to step back and listen more as she is being treated as an adult and so much is expected of her. The Navy is her life to share with me and it is so awesome when she does.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I was not able to open the most recent version of the schools, moms NROTC roster. Thanks for your work on this.

Thanks, Paulette! I am new to the social networking game and I must say I am really enjoying being part of the NROTC group even though I am still learning the ropes. I appreciate your warm welcome.

Thank you, Paulette! I picked up a full size one for him last week and will bring that along, but may wind up having to get the smaller one at Walmart up there. I checked the square footage of the quad dorms and I think his room in BARH is quite a bit larger, so perhaps he'll have room for it after all. I guess we'll figure it out when we get there!

Thanks again and I'm anxious for Sunday! We haven't heard anything from Kyle since he's been in Newport.

Hi Paulette,

I couldn't see the response to KP's question about the iron and board. We're bringing our son to report to his RPI NROTC unit on Monday the 17th, and I wondered the same thing. He's asked for an iron and full-size ironing board. He's in a double in BARH - should he bring them and will there be room for a full-size board?

Thanks!

Unfortuantely we will not be able to go back. He took most of his stuff, I have a few things that I have to send with his roommate. Luckily he knows his roommate, fellow BoyScout. He said he will come home in October. We live about 200 miles from the college, and we have a family reunion next weekend. I received my first email tonite, so I will be looking forward to one tomorrow. They sent it about 1 am this morning.

Thanks for the instructions. It had been a while since I was on here as I have been traveling as a nurse case manager . Look froward to future correspondence.

hello-I am a navy mom of a son who just got a NROTC scholarship (2yr) to the University of South Florida. I want to join the NROTC group for moms on here. How do I get added as a member?

Hi Paulette,
Just checking in. Went to SO last week. It was great - very informative. Met NROTC officers - they were so pleasant & helpful. The kids all seemed to really enjoy it and get something out of it, as well. Our son is a bit disappointed in being in Burdett Ave Residence Hall as it seems far removed, but I keep reminding him that it is very big with its own dining facility, so he will be there with lots of kids, not a just a few students they 'stuck' somewhere. He's ok with it, just not overly thrilled. He has emailed back & forth with his roommate who is also in ROTC. They seem to have some things in common. I know he is looking forward to all of this - I think he wishes it would just go ahead and get going - all this prep and anticipation gets kind of old when you are 18 and about to embark on this life-changing adventure/experience! I clearly remember how excited I was to move to school. Whole different story when you're a Mom sending your own child off. Large sigh. Already looking forward to Parents Weekend!! Guess I will see you soon at orientation!

Hi Paulette!
Just wanted to say thanks for your emails! We leave tomorrow for RPI and orientation that starts on Weds! It's really happening! We have been soooo busy lately... and I know when we get back the REAL work starts of getting all his stuff together to go. Summer is flying by!

Hi Paulette.
Thanks for the comment about EOD training. I guess it's not supposed to be something we learn too much about ;-) In fact (as a mom) it's probably better that I don't know too much about it for now. As moms, we always seem to be worriers when it comes to our warriors!
