Always good to see you Peg, sorry that you are having financial challenges. It is happening to so many people, I lost my job in January so I can relate.

Nick's graduation was pushed back as well, initially it was July now it is in mid August. Hoping he will get to come home - he just got his orders to his ship but I don't know the report date yet. I expect Sept.

Hi Peg, How much longer does Danny have for C school? Nick graduates in August but he said he might be seeing orders in June. He is home for the holiday weekend :-)

It is harder to talk with them due to their schedule, Nick has the 5 pm to midnight class. He did call yesterday about 7 am ...just long enough to say he was going to bed, he had to be up to turnover his duty - all I got was a couple of yawns from him and he told me 4 day weekend - less duty day. He did score a 100% on his first test!!!

DAHLGREN, Va. — The Navy’s Aegis training center at Dahlgren will get a new commander.

Capt. Russ Haas will take over in a change-of-command ceremony Jan. 26 at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center.

The 47-year-old Haas was operations officer of Carrier Strike Group 7 and the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group from 2007 until December 2008. He replaces Capt. Alexander Casimes.

Aegis is a computerized weapons system that uses radar technology to detect and engage threats. The training center employs more than 300 military and civilian workers. About 1,200 enlisted personnel and 550 officers go through the training program annually.

About me:
I am a mother of two great kids! My son joined the Navy and my daughter still is at home. It is so quiet here without my son - my daughter misses him so much! I have a B.S. in Telecommunications Management and work as a Systems Analyst. I was a contractor - working in Southern California, money was wonderful - but time away from my family was too hard! My children were growing up behind my back. So, I decided to stop the travel and work some place that will bring me home at night. So, good-bye sunny San Diego - hello dreary Illinois....yes, I reside in the lovely humid and blah living of Illinois...LOL!! Just kidding - I believe home is where the heart is where ever I may live I am happy as long as I am surrounded by my loved ones!!!!

This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Confused and Lonely

I am so new to this exciting and scary adventure that my son, Danny began on March 25th, 2008 - once he signed the offical papers. I had so many mixed feelings, I was happy, sad, nervous, proud and yet a part of me wanted to pull my only son close to me and not let him go. I am so scared at times, I pray that he is holding things together! I miss him so much! My daughter, Taylor, misses her older brother something awful! He was the only man figure that she had. I am a single mom. So, she feels s… Continue
