Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That you support your child's decision, make them tell you about it, out loud. So that you know they understand what kind of dedication and committment they are about to embark on. Listen and ask questions, smart ones, not ones to make them roll their eyes or whine about why they are making this decision. Be proud for them, be strong for them and believe in them. Deep down inside, they need to have your support. It does make a difference.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

It's been a while~

It has been a while since I have been on my page and I apoligize for that. So much has been going on, that I just didnt make the time to keep my page updated. So let me fill you in on the last couple of months.
My son went to A-Class in Meridian, where he completed his training. After he graduated, they held him there for 2 extra weeks, where in the process, he got a tattoo on his back, with his dad's name. Just a little history to explain the tattoo, Lance and I got married when the boys were 3… Continue

Time to go Home~

Saturday was a great day, visiting with our sailor. We had to leave, (being on a budget) earlier than we wanted. We took advantage of the time we had, visiting sites and eating at White Castle (that is a big deal, since we dont have one in Texas). But we were running out of time, everyone told us to make sure we had plenty of time to get to the airport and car rental, because it takes so long. So we said our goodbyes- hug, bye, another hug, kiss on the cheek, one more hug for good measure and we… Continue

Graduation Day

The day has finally come, when we get to see our son and his collegues graduate from boot camp. It was a spectactular sight, so many sailors marching, flags waving, and families cheering for their Child, their State and for the Navy. The drummers came out and belted out songs, loud and clear. It was so powerful, the rhythem, the sound, that it brought tears to my eyes. The flags came out, one for each state, waving around so colorful and proudly. The sailors that carried them, carried the flags… Continue

A Phone Call

I wake up early Saturday morning, we had errands to run and since it gets so hot so quick, we wanted get them out of the way. I was getting dressed and the phone rings.. I look at the caller id and mentioned to my husband the phone # and he said I dont know who it is but answer it, so I did. I said Hello and the voice on the other end said, "Who do you miss the most in the world?" I screamed and said Oh my gosh, what are you doing? He started laughing and said "Well, I am calling you, I have 30… Continue

Thursdays~

I used to think that Sunday was my favorite day of the week, to relax and just enjoy the day~ Well my perspective has changed so quickly, and it amazes me. Thursdays are the day that we get a letter from our son! Such joy to be experienced is just incredible. I came home from work yeseterday, and had forgotten about it being Thursday, and I checked the mail that the hubby brought it, and started to get upset. There wasnt a letter from our son, it really crushed me... but my husband was nice enou… Continue

Thanks for your response Renote! Listen, if you guys have any questions about the Seals or Buds, let me know. Justin was at Buds until this past July. He got about 50 hours into Hell Week before he DOR'd. It was tough! But we will be here to support you and answer any questions. Good luck to Aaron. I know you must be so proud!

Hi Aaron's mom. My sons were raised in the DFW area, but I stay in WF during the week. My son is a hospital corpsman right now at Camp LeJeune but just wanted to give you support as a fellow Wichitan!

No we stayed until Sunday. Yes, Antwon and a few guys from div 315 are rooming together, seem to be having fun. He got his cell phone on Saturday. So we have been chating quite a bit. He is planning to come home for Christmas, will not finish school until Feb.

Hi, How are you'll. Sorry we did not meet. What is your Sailor doing? Antwon will be in Great Lakes until Feb 09. He is attending Gunner's mate School, then off to I don't know yet. Our sailors look so great and did a wonderful job and I'am sure they will continue. CONGRATS! MOM

We go to White Castles just for the experience. Our Nick is STILL in GL, he started school back in April and should be done sometime in November but he is doing well in school. We miss him but get to talk frequently!

You are now a seasoned boot camp Mom. On to step two, getting through A school, which is much, much better for everyone. Will you get a break with him when he graduates from that?
