Gone Three Days-Two Calls

Got a shock this morning. Phone call with caller ID as US Govt, area code 847. Picked it up to "Hi, Mom". OMG! He couldn't talk, medical doctor wanted clarification on conditions, so he had to turn the phone right over to her. It felt so good to hear his voice, even for a few seconds. I hope the Navy takes good care of him. Gotta be Navy Strong. Rita

It is our pleasure to have the boys for the weekend. I feel the same way you do about the extended family. Now that we are empty nesters it feels good to have some noise in the house.

Hi Rita, I don't know if you are the Rita I am looking for but I am taking a chance. My name is Connie from South Carolina and my son is Steven. He is stationed at Little Creek training for Riverine One. He came home for Thanksgiving and brought three friends. I believe one is your son Austin. If I am correct, I want to thank you for having Steven in your home in Sept. when he could not come home. Your son is a very polite young man and I am sure you are so proud of what he has accomplished in the navy.

Hi,

I was reading your comments about Ship 17 and it was a place to be avoided. My son is there for medical reason. What can you tell me about the place. My husband and I are trying to decide if we should try harder to contact him.

He called us last night and said the Navy was sending him home on medical deferment. He was very emotional and didn't like that he was removed to Ship 17.

any info would be helpful. thanks.

onward. . .

Hi Rita, So that is probably why it has taken us so long to get a lettter. They say it takes 5-7 days for a letter so maybe we will get one at the end of the week. Maybe thats why Stephen has been having a hard time this last week, hopefully his letter will fill me in on whats going on it kind of hard to set back and not know what going on but thats a part of letting them grow up.

Hope things go better for you guys. I think boot camp is much harder than my son expected. I know he thought it would be hard but he has told me a couple times that he's having a real hard time. I know they look over some of the medical problems that they have. Glad to have you in our group.

Hi Rita, Welcome. I gave a quick read over your comments posted on N4M. I am sorry you and your son are having difficulties. I hope things get ironed out quickly for you and your son Austin. Have a Happy Mother's Day.

I am sorry your son was treated so badly..yes unfortunately..some recruiters will lie.. They do this when their career is on the line. If they dont make numbers and consistently...they can look forward to a bleak future in the navy with few promotions. Sorry this information came to you and your son late....my wish is more parents AND THEIR KIDS..would do much more research BEFORE signing and raising their right hand! As the saying goes...NEVER TAKE THE FIRST OFFER!
