Roseann, I am so sorry it took so long to get back to you. First of all, I hope everything is going well with your sailor at BC. I know this has got to be a really trying time for you. When Josh called the first time, I think it was a Sunday. But after that, anyone can earn a call home for whatever reason. They even let him call home when we were struck with three fire storms in all of the counties where I live. He was allowed to check on the family :) Be prepared with questions before the call. When I got my first one, I was more in shock than anything and I couldn't talk. I could hear the anger, resentment and fear in my sons voice. But when I got the second and third letters, etc, I could hear that all dissipate. And let me tell you, the night in the hotel room when we came home, was priceless. He couldn't stop talking about the Navy :) My husband and I are so proud of our sailor. Good luck to you and your family. Keep up the support.

Hi Roseann,
I saw your post on ATC and it just brought me to tears, as my son left for BC almost a year ago on 10/27/2008. I know exactly how you are feeling and I can't be more proud of my son today. He completed BC and went to P'Cola for A school. Finished top of his class and is currently stationed in San Diego. He loves his job and is lucky to be 1.5 hours from home. I just worked on his Navy Scrap Book for the first time this weekend and I was enjoying re-living every moment, from the first letter, to the phone calls and graduation. I hope you can enjoy the experience with a piece of mind. Please feel free to write to me personnally if you have any qusetions, or just want to chat. Congrat's to your soon to be sailor.

Where is Lonedell? We live across the river from St Louis in Collinsville, IL. My son leaves on Monday from St. Louis, just two days before your son.

Hello Roseann:
Good to have you on Navy 4 Moms. We are down to the final few days before our kids leave. I do hope everything is going smooth for you. My daughter Cassie, is at her DEP meeting and this is her last PT next Thursday she will not do PT they do not like them doing PT just before they go. I do know one thing for sure they are going to be cold and when we go to the PIR we will also be cold. Well, if there is anything I can answer or do for you just let me know. Evelyn
