I live in North Richland Hills. My son is stationed in Brunswick, Maine. He just went back to Brunswick yesterday after a 2 week vacation at home. The temp was 105 when he left here and 72 when he returned to Maine.
Hi Navy 08 Mom. I'm still trying to find the name of the phone card I bought. I've asked my son several times and he keeps forgetting to get me the information. Is your son in Maine yet?
That big burly Marine was a wise man. Most of these guys (and gals) will figure it out in due time. It's not unfair, it's just the way it is. Kinda like life, go figure.

- My son needed letters, care packages, & phone calls, when allowed. He needed to know that he had a touchstone back at home to depend on.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

- Christopher is 17. He was extremly stressed last night and though I do not like for him to miss school We let him stay home and slowly get his homework done over the weekend. He had a three page report and two late assignments for english. He is working as I sit here and doing very well so I hope that being 'caught up' will relieve the pressure and next week is Taks which is easy for him so then we will have 4 weeks left to try and get through. I have the District Special ed teacher looking into how to help Chris so next year will be better and he can learn some things to do to get him through college. He is so bright it would be a shame for him to fail.

- I don't know why Josie doesn't like chicken but she doesn't and she says that is all they ever have so she just gets stuff for the micro wave. I hope she is eating enough? I'm giving her some growing room before we just pop up there some weekend. She wants to make her own choices so I have to start to let go. Her brother who is a yr. younger is also saying it's time for him to try and make it on his own. I still have one left-- the empty nest is too close!!

- She is doing OK. Waiting for her duties. She filled out paper work and said "some time she will be "out of Pocket" for us not to worry if she doesn't answer her phone. It's the job" She doesn't like the food in the mess hall so she eats things she can micro wave in her room or goes out. She said they only serve Chicken, which she does not care for. She is looking for a used car as the base is pretty big and no real transportation. How is your son? Has he been home any? I forget is he in Maine or Conn.? It is really nice in the fall with the changing colors. Hope you get to go sometime.

- There was a whole 'TA DO' about people getting on line who did not belong and I felt it best not to have our names out there. Admin. finally located them and they have been banned from our sire. But it shows how vounerable we are. I'm just trying to be very careful. We did get her patches but we had to order them on-line( one of the mothers helped me find the site) and they should arrive tomorrow-just enough time to sew them on and then back out early the next morning. She has to arrive on Sat. Talk about the skin of your teeth! lol

- Rudy- Where have you been??? I love your pictures. Say has your son ever needed to have stripes and a rating badge bought when he was home? Josie bought them when she was in San Antonio but they turned out missing when she got here. (only found this out yesterday and she needs to report on Sat. in her whites! Do you have any idea where the Naval base is in Ft. Worth? Is it what was called Carswell? She is planning a long 6 hr. each way to go back to San Antonio to buy them again! Just to turn around to head north the following day. Any help is appreciated. Any old uniforms at home we can take stripes from? I have no idea what the rating badge is.

- Yes I'm going to the Waco M&G--you too!? I could only put 4 pictures up but Brenda said to try adding new ones on one at a time, that might work.

- Rudie, just found out myself that it takes a day for them to approve the pictures, so I can see them, but look tomorrow they should be there.

- Rudie, did you see CCR's page? she has the Keller meeting pictures. Good to see all your faces again. Also do you know there is a group called Crock Pot Mom's? Just joined a few days ago and they have some recipes listed you might want to check out. Will you get to go to Waco m&g? Kate told me I can ride with her, she might have room if you need a ride?
