Profile Information

About me:
I am most proud to be a mom and granny (a name my great grandmother was called, and I claimed it when I became a grandmother.). I have a sailor son who is divorced with two little girls that live in our area. I am also proud of a beautiful college grad daughter.

I'm a retired teacher that now is busier than ever mostly involved with military support and patriotic organizations.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Find a group and get involved locally. The Marine Moms adopted me and helped me also start a Navy Families group. We are active members with the Patriot Guard Riders, too.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Educational Tours

I have been organizing educational tours since 1988. I thought when I retired, that would be the end of my tours. Then I was offered the opportunity to take university students to Ireland in 2007. Thought that would be the end....until another teacher asked me to organize a tour of Greece because she… Continue

2009 Navy Ball

I'll be uploading more pictures as a friend sends me more that he took, but I have started an album.

We helped celebrate the 234th birthday of the Navy with our son and many other fine sailors. The evening began with a social hour and commemoration pub glasses if you chose to purchase them. A photographer with a son in the Navy was there to take portrait pictures. I can't wait to see them!

When everyone was seated at the ships (each table was named), the colors were presented, national anthem,… Continue

What the sailors want

Since it's time to think about Christmas packages, here's part of an email I sent out this morning to some friends who wanted ideas. Thought some of you could use them, too.

My sailor just called and added to the list. He said on ship, they want jerky, Easy Mac, fruit cups. When deployed on land, he said neck travel pillows, wipes, and rechargeable batteries. I also remember sending him stuff for tooth aches and tooth putty for loosing a filling because he couldn’t get to the dentist right away… Continue

Sounds like your very busy. Glad you will be going to Texas and yes the Ft Hood stuff is insane, so scary. We will be going to Houston for Thanksgiving, my Grandbaby is 19 months old now and I can't wait to see her. Jon got back from his underway a few weeks ago and I am a happy camper now, I really missed him this time out. Purple Heart? What happened? Is everything ok?

My Dad , he's 97 is having some problems now, it's so hard watching him go thru all these changes. I cry about it but I am very thankful that we are close.

Do you know of anyone that is deployed right now that needs anything? Christmas is right around the corner. I can get out a package next week if you have a contact for me.

Take care and don't work too hard.

Just found your comment, I have been busy lately. The baby belongs to my daughter and the new guy in her life. He is a Marine and a very nice guy. We like him very much. The baby is still in the NICU (he was a month early) and had a medical problem that required surgery 10 minutes after birth. He is doing great and is three weeks old. My dcaughter is on Family leave, she had to have a C section and her senior command is trying to assign her to the hospital for her TAD so she will have time off when the baby can finally come home.
