Profile Information

About me:
I have been married for 32 years to my husband Floyd who has been a Firefigher/Paramedic for 31 years. I have a 21 yr old son Andrew, 28 yr old married daughter Leslie who has a 9 yr old son Jordan and 8 yr old daughter Jessica (Jessie), and a son Christopher that will soon be 32 yrs old and just graduated from Great Lakes "boot camp" February 6, 2009. I was a police dispatcher before staying at home with my kids full-time and I have now been a School Bus Driver for almost 10 years.

Chris is now in HCorpsman A-School and is doing very well. Due to his grades he was made an EPO (Education Petty Officer) which is a tutor that helps others that are having problems passing tests. He is also an APO (Athletic Petty Officer) and he leads the PT drills. So I'm really proud that he is doing well. He should be at GL until about October.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Thinking about joining
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I have to trust his judgment and support his choices. I have to just put him in God's hands and use my faith to not worry about him. Because nothing is going to happen to him that isn't in God's plan for his life.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Have your forgotten....

More importantly, I remember where I was when the World Trade Centers went down. I remember finding out that my father-in-law had dug the graves for the murdered Jewish people and never knowing this until after he died. He told my son, who is now in the US Navy Special Ops/Pre-EOD program at Great Lakes, about it so we would all know after he was gone. He was not proud of it, but he was so proud to be part of the American Forces to liberate the people who needed help and were being treated like… Continue

Thank You so much Ruth,
I'm having to study to renew my paramedics license...I get side tracked and forget to check back... That's my excuse......it has nothing to do with the fact I'm getting older......really..... :)

Ruth -

I've been trying to get a hold on the slew of technical problems happening on the site. Ning has been pushing out lots of changes and I think they are impacting everything from duplicate postings, to email notifications, and even the ability to post or delete content. I'll be posting a big blog about this once I get some answers from them.

Thanks for the report and I hope we can have it all wrapped up and resolved before the end of the week!

Good gosh Ruth - I need to be checking my page more often! Just found your post about Ruthella's son having to leave early - that just sucks! Remember I mentioned that a corpsman just back from the sand was at my brother-in-laws wedding? Well, he spent more than 1/2 the evening outside on the phone as one of his Marines was having a medical issue back at base. These young men certainly are counted upon to go above and beyond, bless their hearts.

Hi Ruth, I'm doing good and Troy is great! He is still overseas, but I get regular updates on him and his squadron. I did get to chat with him yesterday. I'm putting together a Halloween "goodie box" to send to him. Glad to hear Chris is doing well. Let me know if you need anything, I'm not that far away.

Ruth-Thanks for the information. My son just took test 12 on friday and so on to labs on monday. He looked in to, I think diving corpsman pass the PT but didn't have a high enough GPA. So we will see how it goes. I have nothing against him doing dental, I just know he would like to be doing something more physical. I was a DT when I was in the Navy twenty years ago, but back then we just went straight to dental school and off to our duty station.
