Hi everyone! Welcome newcomers! I have not ditched you all. Zack has been home for the past 11 days. It was great seeing him but very busy. As most of you know, I started a new job (within my company) about a month ago. It has had me so busy. I h...

Profile Information

About me:
My oldest child, Zack left for boot camp on 10/9/08, PIR on 12/5/08. He is going to be an AO. I miss him so much but I am so proud of him too! I married my HS sweetheart, Mike and we married right after my graduation. He was going into the Air Force. Here we are 21 years later happy as ever and wouldn't change a thing. So, I already know what it is to share someone you love with the country but I also know the pride and joy that comes from someone you love serving this great nation. We live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (aka "God's Country") and have 2 other children; Erin who is 15 and Chris who is 12. We thank God every day for our wonderful family and all of the blessings we have. We are thankful to all of the other men and women who support this great country by serving in the Armed forces and for all those who love someone who serves.
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Said “No way!”
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My son knows more than I thought he did.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey Girl,
Just checking in on you again. I am still gathering pictures for the video. I would like to have some of Zack when he was home on leave. How is he doing in Lemoore? I know the classes there are really backed up. Another AO Mom Kim, her son will be stationed there and has been in Lemmore for almost 8 weeks waiting for his c-school to start! He said they finally turned the AC on in the barracks! And said the place was crazy with spiders! I have an Oceana Group now too along with my AO Group and the Pensacola Gals. We miss you! I hope Zack is doing good, and you too of course!

hi , I saw you on Virgnia beach . I wanted to let you know if you go to the oceana nas website and at the top tabs go to MWR they have info on the accomadations available for families and visitors . they look very very nice! and much less expensive than anything else I have seen in the area during the summer esp.
This group seems a little quiet, maybe we can spice things up in there, LOL> My sailor is a new AZ his PIR was 11-26 so about 2 wks or so ahead of yours.
He just graduated( had to wait 2 1/2 months to class -up, it was a nightmare) and he is coming home on leave for two weeks so he won't report to Oceana for about 2wks.
We live pretty close and expect to be making trips with family often!

You're welcome! Yes, I do get it how parents would be upset/afraid/disappointed when the parents had planned something different for their child! I definitely get it! Good to hear that you and your son Zack worked everything out BEFORE he left for b/c. Of course, you did a wonderful job and your son made a very good decision for himself.

That's nice that you live in Maryland and work in Annapolis, I love the area there and how quaint it is even with the huge new Target that was just opened in Annapolis! BTW, I really like your white N* long sleeve shirt you're wearing in one of your pics. What did your friends' son like about NAPS and what did he find difficult about it? I would LOVE to hear more about his time at NAPS and any advise on what my son could do to be better prepared for it.

I believe that young Jessica will do well and prayer changes things...especially the heart of folks. I believe that her parents will come around before long especially since she seems very determined. Look forward to hearing more from you soon.

Hi Zack's Mom,

Read your comments on the "my parents are guilting me" discussion and had to drop by and say, good job! BTW, enjoyed viewing your family pics and congratulations on your son's service! Sherry

I asked James about Zack's squad. He said he believed the squad is attached to the USS Harry Truman. They are a Super Hornet Squad also! Just google VFA 32 Oceana NAS....there is alot of info out there. I think it was attached to the JFK before it was decomissioned. Their nickname is the swordsmen. Here is the link to their page. http://www.vfa32.navy.mil/squad%20his.htm
Here is their Logo!
