About me:
I'm a mother of a Ship 17 Survivor. Something needs to be done with that place. I'm ashamed to say this is part of our military.

My Son's Story

I thought the best way to tell what happened to my son would be to post some of my original letters and emails I had written during his time at Great Lakes. Names have been edited out. Not to protect the guilty though. These people will have to live with what how they treat others. Karma.
My heart goes out to those that are still in Ship 17, have been in there, and for those that will end up in Ship 17. And for their families.

Shannon, I responded to your Rules discussion. So sorry I didn't see it till now.Posting a blog reaches more people, since it stays on the front page a day or so. Then it is on your page pemanently.

Dear Shannon,
How are you doing? This Navy for moms is such a blessing. Many moms helped me through Boot Camp.
I have to ask, what happened on Ship 17?
Where is your son now?
Is he alright?
Take care and God bless.

Rose, thank you. I don't see the envelope lighting up, but I did get a notice in my email. I am so lost on here on trying to figure this all out. I replied back. I think. Ha! I may have just sent a regular message though without hitting a reply button.

Thank you, Rose!
When my son was there I was told there were over 300 people in Ship 17 awaiting out-processing. With more coming in each day.
Just broke my heart to know so many people were going through something there was no reason for them to go through..being treated the way there were.
I myself was screamed at by a Chief at Ship 17 and a Navy liaison at MEPS in Fort Jackson, SC.
Found out later the guy at MEPS was one of those that signed my son's paperwork to put him through to bootcamp without the proper X-rays being done. Cover up?
