Shauna,
How are you? What do you hear from Kylie? Will she get to come home this summer? I'd love to have lunch or meet for coffee with you and her whenever she is in town, if you have time. I'd love to meet her!

Shauna: I sure hope you can make it! Bring whatever is easiest for you....I usually do the Costco or Frys Deli for a salad of some sort....bean salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, etc. Or a fruit bowl. Paper products and chips are already covered so, just whatever. If you want to cook something from home that's great as well.

Shauna: I'm so sorry you didn't make it to the potluck at Hiromi's today. We had a great time! She made lasagne (sp?) and everyone brought desserts...it was terrific! Navy for Moms has been invited to a DEP meeting/picnic on April 4th. It will be held at Cortez Park at 35th Ave and Dunlap. It's listed on the "Events" page. Check it out....and I hope you can come!

Hi Shauna:
It's SO good to hear from you! All is well here. Matt will be home in about 40 days. I'm going back for his homecoming. He's in the Red Sea right now. Glad to hear Kylie is going good. Wish Matt was there to help her with math. He's the 'math' person in our family. That's so cool Kylie is working on her associates degree. As soon as Matt gets back to Norfolk, I'll start 'hounding' him about taking some online courses. He needs to get his bachelors BEFORE he gets out of the Navy. (I'm hoping he stays in the Navy and transfers to San Diego).

Are any of the "Bahrain Moms" group talking about the base restrictions? I'm sure they all know about it. With all the troops going to Afghanistan I'm sure Bahrain will be a busy, busy place!

Yes, we missed you at the January potluck, but not to worry, you had a much more important event to plan and attend. March 4 - 11 is Navy Week in Phoenix. I'm not sure yet, but I may be going up for an event. I'll keep you posted. :)

Hi Shauna:

Here's the link to Dorothy's page:

I will miss you next Saturday but I understand how important your parent's anniversary celebration is. We will plan another get together (hopefully before it gets hot again)!!

Matt's doing fine in the Gulf. He called twice this week and emailed about 5 times. He's getting excited about returning in the spring. How's Kylie doing in Bahrain??? Matt was just there a week ago. He said he had "watch" a lot on the ship and did not get to spend much time on base.

Miss you! Melissa :)

Hi Shauna,
Thanks for the information about the package shipping. No I have not heard about the one rate. What size box is that for? Is that through UPS or the post office?

Hi Shauna,
I'm so glad that you got to see and talk to Kylie via Skype! Peter spent 3 months in Europe in the summer of 07, and we had Skype, but I could never quite figure out how to use it. I'm glad it works for you! That is great that they had a comforting Christmas Eve service there. I am so thankful for the Chaplains and all they do to spiritually take care of our military.

Peter reports to Athens, GA Jan 6, but has been told he'll be sent back home to do recruiting until he classes up in Supply School in early April. His plans are to move to Athens the end of March.

Let me know how the Navy responds to your requests for Kylie to be home for the holidays next year. I hope they respond positively. Have a Happy New Year!

Shauna,
I've been away from the site for a while. I hope you got the info you needed, not thanks to me.
