It takes about an hour and 15 minutes from the time they pull into the Sinclair Inlet to tying down to the dock. Wish I had known that, it was hot that day!

Profile Information

About me:
My paternal and maternal grandfathers both served the Navy as did my father. My husband and I got married in February of 2006 and shortly after he enlisted in the DEP program for the Navy. He left for bootcamp on April 4, 2007 and then learned both his paternal and maternal grandfathers served the Navy during WWII as did his godfather and a couple of uncles. My IT2 Kempf is currently aboard the USS John C. Stennis CVN 74 and is quickly climbing the promotion ladder and loving his job (just not the time away from our kids and me). My brother joined this year and left for bootcamp November 3, 2009 with an intended rate of Navy Diver, one of the 5 Special Ops groups the Navy has.
I have exponential amounts of pride whenever I see or hear the word Navy. I love the USN!
A word from the wise: Just because you work for the Navy doesn't mean the Navy can't work for you. Take advantage of every benefit offered if you treat it like being apart of a club you're sure to enjoy your service better and this goes for the wives of sailors too!
I've been through all the processes of the enlisted Navy life. Ask me any question and I'll have an answer! Especially women who were wives before their husband's joined!
I am here to support or represent my:
Spouse/Significant other
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Take advantage of every unique opportunity being in the Navy community provides. Fly out and see your service member when they port overseas! Go to MWR and ITT and get free tickets to sporting events! Take complete advantage of TriCare's medical insurance! Shop at the NEX on Black Fridays! If you show unconditional love and support to your service member they'll have a better morale and better attitude than the disgruntled sailors on board. Keep issues that they can't control out of conversation when they're underway. There's nothing wrong with being called a Navy Guy, being a Guy in the Navy is what you want to avoid. Guys in the Navy cheat on their wives, don't iron their clothes, complain about work hours, act unappreciative and lower the strength of their division.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
