About me:
MS is where I was born and raised, but TX is my adopted home. I am a divorced mom currently back in MS after 18 years in TX. I have 2 sons. My oldest son is an EMT in the Corpus area training to be a firefighter. My youngest son is my sailor. His PIR was 5/16. He is currently stationed in VA. I just recently married (Oct. 8) the most wonderful man. He has 3 sons ages 24, 21, and 19. The most recent change in my life is becoming an elementary library media specialist after 20 years in the classroom. I love it!

My MA

Jared called Friday around 11:00 am to let me know graduation was over and he had received his MA badge! His girlfriend went down for the graduation and is driving him back to East Texas. They are visiting with his brother, Matt, in Fort Worth this weekend then will head back to Tyler where he will stay with his dad and work for his recruiter. NOT GOING TO JAPAN

I just realized I haven't updated my blog since Jared was told he IS NOT going to Japan. The week after he was told he would be stationed in Japan, he was told he was being stationed in Norfolk, VA for 3 years. Jared is very disappointed, but (sorry Jared) Mom is not. Since he enlisted for 6 years, he'll have 3 more years to possibly get stationed overseas. Maybe by then I'll get used to the idea!

Well Ladies, I just wanted to give everyone an update on Jared. He is being stationed in Japan! I'm still a little numb and trying to get used to the idea. Heck, I've already checked out airline prices. The really ironic thing about this is that Jared has talked about going to Japan since he was a little boy. So begins our Navy adventure!

MA A School in San Antonio

Well, we survived boot camp and it is onto A school. Jared was on hold in Great Lakes for 1 week, then headed to San Antonio. What a difference! I get at least one phone call a day, if not more. He sounds so content. He has met some great guys and made good friends. They already have an outing planned...some sort of band world tour thingy in San Antonio. He should be getting his orders in about 3 weeks. I'm hoping for stateside, but God will take care of him wherever he goes.

Hi Sheila, It's been a while since I've been on the site. Nick was on the Bush when it was commissioned. He left 2/21 on the Eisenhower. He will be deployed for 5 months. This is his 1st deployment. It reminds me of boot camp. Thank God for this site. How is Jared? I too understand how you feel having him in the states. I felt blessed with Nick being in Virginia. Hopefully it wasn't the calm b4 the storm. It was great hearing from you. Take care. Maria

Sheila, thank you so much for your kind words. I do find many people to be supportive here. I guess you have to choose to be around people that reduce stress rather than create it. I remember how much you wanted Jared to go to Japan. Just kidding. I live in Louisiana but my family lives in Norfolk, Va. Is Jared still around there? My son was injured in A school and discharged at Christmas. His brother is going in OCS as a Navy officer in March, so I guess I can still stay on the site a bit longer.
