Your photos are great! And proud you are and should be. We have one in the Navy, one who is a Riverside police officer and another who was in the Navy on a sub. You are probably the busiest Navy mom!

My daughter, Jessica-has been in the Navy for 13 yrs- is a RDC at bootcamp until 2010. My youngest daughter, Ericka was blessed to have her sister on the base while she was in bootcamp. Jessica was able to watch her from afar & also have brief chats w/her sister. Jessica was able to speak to the petty officers in Ericka's division (since they all know each other & work together. I was Honored, on Ericka's graduation day (Pass and Review) I was allowed to sit along side the officers. This was really a treat!!! Ericka has been in the Navy now for over 2 years, she is stationed in Bremerton, WA. Jessica is still "pushing boots" (I guess thats the term used to get the kids through) her rate is Master of Arms (a cop) & she loves it. But her hours are long & most workdays begin at 4am till after 11pm - she is there before the kids wake up & leaves after they are in bed.
My son Stevie-in the Navy for 11 yrs- is a Navy Sea-Bee based in Calif., About 2 hour drive from our home in SoCal. He also worked for 3 yrs as a recuiter in our town of Riverside, CA. He returned home from Iraq in Nov & they are now preparing to leave once again. This time I believe it will be to the "Horn of Africa"
I absolutely love the opportunities that the Navy has offered to my children, I'm always telling them to "WORK HARD & take advantage of EVERYTHING" All the work & committment will one day pay-off for them. I can honestly say, that making a career of the Navy is something that cannot be matched in the civilian workplace. My kids know that they will always have a pay check, medical, dental Plus all the paid holidays anyone could ever ask for, not to mention Paid leaves.
Once last little piece of information: for all you new moms who have their kids in bootcamp now (jessi is still ther) or at their first command, please have your child as for what is called HARP DUTY for when they return home to visit. For my kids & me, the benefit is that they are home to visit for 2 weeks & it is not considered a "leave" meaning they won't have to give up any of their 'leave' time now. But they do go work afew hours aday at their Recuiters office. They answer phones, sent faxes & maybe even go speak to their former classmates & teachers. For me these visits are very special, not only does it show how far these kids have come, but how much they have matured. You'll all be so amazed at how proud their teachers are to see the kids they once taught - all dressed up in their uniforms.
