Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My son has been well cared for by his extended Navy family, every step of his career. The Navy has insured that he has the training, education and experience he needs to do his job well. He has become a responsible, squared away sailor and we are very, very proud of his accomplishments.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Congratulations to you as well! Wasn't it all great. I thought about you, realizing that you were celebrating everything three hours before we were. We had a grand time.
The Reaper is long steep hill that is climbed at the end of the Crucible. It is pretty tough, thus the nickname. If you haven't read it, get "Into the Crucible." While it is about the SD Crucible it is interesting in terms of the underlying philosophy. At SD, it seems phone calls are kept to a minimum. It also varies by platoon. All the other platoons, except my grandson's, were allowed power bars and/or cookies.
Sue, Golf Company should be approaching the Reaper about then. They are scheduled to finish around 8:00 a.m. I will be saying some prayers for Kilo Company. We're getting close ... OOH RAH!
Sue, I am going to graduation and really looking forward to it. Our grandson is so excited. In San Diego, the recruits travel north to Camp Pendleton for marksmanship training. Then they return to the MCRD for most of Phase III. They go back to CP for the Crucible. After the Crucible, the recruits march down to the parade deck for the Eagle, Globe and Anchor ceremony. Bryce said that he could see it from the rifle range. It really motivated him to see the new Marines receive their EGAs. Returning to MCRD he felt more pride in looking sharp.
Sue, We're getting closer and closer! The Crucible is right around the corner. Have you read "Into the Crucible"? I am finishing it, and I think it's worth reading. Just think, three weeks from now will be Family Day! Ooh Rah! Go Kilo and Golf Companies!
