Hi Provjones, I think they extract all the new recruit's wisdom teeth. My son had the same experience as did a few of his buddies. I felt just like you did about it!

Hi Sue I was wondering about your comment about wisdom teeth is that something they do to every recruit? It seems to me that after that type of surgery you have to rest. They did not do that during boot camp I hope.

Thanks Sue! I did get a letter today! It wasn't very good. He is doubting himself, wondering why he did this & feeling so alone. I have been writing everyday & encouraging him. So I hope it will get better, I know it will. But my heart breaks for him.

Your son is very handsome & I'm sure you are so proud. I'm glad to read that he is doing well & it gives me hope for Jason, he just has to make it through BC!
Thanks for the encouragement!

Sue, We fly out of Nashville tomorrow afternoon. I'll be packing today. You have to dress in layers to stay warm and I'm dreading the cold. I bought long underwear for my daughter and myself. I already had some for my husband so he was well taken care of in that department. I am still a Florida girl at heart but being with my new Sailor will warm my heart. Nothing could keep our family away. Hope to meet you at Flanagan's.

Sue - I had to smile when I read your profile. I worked in HR in hotels a very long time ago. I've been in HR in GE now for almost 20 years. Maybe we'll meet at PIR on Friday! Glen

Hi Sue, Hans is in Division 052. He is in with Mary's son Dan. We are getting excited too. We are praying we have good weather for that weekend. We get cold weather, some snow here in Tennessee, but nothing like they receive there in Illinois. We are flying up there on Thursday January 1 in the afternoon and plan on renting a car. We are staying at the Naval Lodge. We will have Christmas with my in laws. We get together with them as they live here. My family lives now in Fort Myers Fl.

Hi Sue, It has been a long time since I lived in Florida so I am not sure if I know the Trade Wind Resort. I was born in Miami and my family moved to Pinellas County when I was three. My husband and I moved to Tennessee twenty three years ago shortly after Hans turned one. I have only been back to Florida a few times. I can't wait until January 2. Knowing PIR is coming up is helping my family deal with not having Hans for Christmas.

Hello Sue, I see you are from Treasure Island Florida. I am orginally from Pinellas County myself. I grew up in Belleair Bluffs and attended Largo High School. I use to swim at Redington beach at a place called The Bath Club. Lol the name sounds so funny now. My family and I have lived in Tennnessee for the pass 23 years. My son Hans graduates January 2 and we can't wait to see him. Knowing we will see our new sailors will make the new year better. Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas

About me:
I live in Treasure Island Florida and work at a beach resort in Human Resources. I have five children, my Sailor being the youngest and my only boy. My son left on November 5, 2008 and graduated from boot camp on January 2. It was the happiest day I can remember. It seemed like boot camp went on forever due to the limited contact with my son. It did end and had a happy ending. He's in Groton now in A school and is loving life.
