Ruth, I have a question about Liberty. Can the days for liberty and holidays be combined? For instance, my son says he has 4 days of liberty starting today through Monday, then has to show up for muster on Tuesday, then he has 4 days holiday? Just...

Skysmom--As I was shopping on one of the navy apparel websites, I saw a bumper sticker that read something like, "My child serves to protect out freedom, so your child can go to College"!!! I just had to add this comment, I couldn't resist.

I am in agreement with you. When my son left for BC exactly 2 years ago next week, I felt so much relief. I worried less about him in BC than when he was running around here at home with a potentially wrong croud. He made the right choice and I ca...

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To be supportive at all times. I was surprised to learn that not all American's support our young men/women who devote their lives to ensure our freedom.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Pet foster homes are available for our military when they deploy

I am sure I am the last person to know this but, there is a service that is available to our military, that will place pets (of all sorts) in foster homes waiting for their owner to return from their tour. It took months of searching to try to find a home for my son's dog that we stumbled upon this gentleman that fosters animals for our military (all branches). This is a non-profit organization. All foster homes are screened and are selected for each pet very carefully. I call him the "Hero of H… Continue

I will let Joey know when he walks in. I know he said he was going to call earlier. I dread the time that I have to deal with that. I just pray that he finds himself a good woman that we all can get along with. Maybe this will help him find himself. My son does not have a girlfriend and does not plan on one any time soon until he gets his life together and has it the way he wants he said. Thank God for that. I will call you tomorrow.
Thank you!

Susan,
I spoke with my son and he would love to meet your son tonight or tomorrow. Joey actually gets deployed this Friday, June 5th instead of the 16th which was the first date given then they said 26th with the final result being 3 days from now. Huge difference with no time to prepare the younger brothers. I know everything will be fine with the "faith and trust" I have in prayer. Being strong is so hard when you want so much to keep them in your presence.
My son stated he is in the Alpha Company as well and Diesel Mechanic too. This is so awesome. Yesterday at church I prayed for the Lord to bring someone to us that can share this ordeal with him that was in his group being that he knows nobody personally. He has had 2 Drill weekends since he has arrived home from A School and thought he would have the 3rd next week. Guess not. My husband his step-father works on base and has told him that he needs to get out there and meet his group, hang out there withNMCB22 so that he can be mentally prepared for what is about to take place as well as make a bond with his group. I think he truly does not see the importance in that until he is actually there. I told Joey that I was praying for God to bring him a "bud" and he just laughed at me. When I just called to tell him this he was no longer laughing. I was!!! With joy. If you could let your son know that my son will be expecting his call and maybe then they can arrange something before he leaves. My son's number is 682.554-9144 if it goes to his voicemail please tell him to leave a message. He is on his motorcycle visiting friends/family prior to his leave.
Thank you both for answering a prayer.

Hi Susan. My name is Laura and I am from Fort Worth. My son is Jose Chavez and he is in NMCB22. He actually got his orders this past Friday to leave to Gulfport, Mississippi on 6/05 for Combat Training and then September he goes to Afghanistan. I was not expecting the leave so soon being that they told him end of this month early next month. His brothers, dad and I are trying very hard to be strong for him but I must admit there is alot of emotions going on right now. Joey is ready but as a parent I can't help but want him home longer. I do hope my son and your son get to meet which I am sure they will in Mississippi. My son is also in the same field as your son. We will be updating my profile this evening with pictures so that the rest of the NMCB22 can actually see who they will be helping and supporting during this journey.
Thank you for your support and may we come together to help our sons/daughters
