Hi Susan, Sorry to hear about her knee situation. What is happening now? I remember distinctly being told at MEPS (because I asked) when Todd was enlisting that if he was injured at BC what would happen? They said they would either put him in a ship to recover or send him home, let him heal and then take him back. Are they saying her knee injury is enough to keep her from serving? I will remember this in prayer and I totally agree with you that to navigate all these issues at 18 can be pretty overwhelming.

Still nothing new on our side. Basically Todd is waiting to hear from the board what they have decided about his appeal. My hope is with senators and congressmen involved they will look at this a little harder. And of course we are praying hard.

All the best to Marissa, sorry this happened.

Hi Susan, I got my new computer, it's so nice. I saw the picture of Marissa, wow beautiful. I'm excited for you and her. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi Susan, I will ask Todd about meeting your daughter, I had heard that they sat and waited on Wed without a meeting happening. Looking down your page it sounds like your daughter was injured at boot camp. What is happening? Is she appealing?

Todd had a major allergic reaction and we are not sure to what. The Navy wants to discharge him and Todd is appealing because no one knows what happened or whether it could ever even happen again. I think it had to do with all the immunizations, flu and pink eye happening at once. We have our congressman and senators involved hoping this will make the Navy look hard at this before they make a final decision.

All the best to you and your daughter.

Hi Susan, How are you and Marissa? Jennifer finally got her orders. She's going to Virginia on the USS IKE. She said that the orders for Japan were dropped, I'm still trying to get use to all this military stuff. She has to report there by 12/8. Her Chief recommended that she not take her leave till Christmas. So she's hoping to be home 12/18 thru at least 1/3. We'll see. She's ready to come home and not looking forward to next week, Thanksgiving on base. She's off Duty, so her and some of her friends are thinking of getting a hotel for the 4 days and cook their own dinner.

Take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hey Susan. I haven't spoken to you in a while... My is getting ready to leave for Boot Camp on Dec.2nd., so I have been spending a lot of time with him. I honestly nervous of the unknown and the fact that I will not see him for 9weeks. Just wanted to drop you a line to keep you up dated.

Thank goodness she has you to fight for her! My best wishes that this all turns out well for Marissa. I'm praying for you. She may want to get separated, but it may be in her best interest to stay put until the knee gets straightened out and she gets some compensation for her injury. Couldn't she get some kind of desk job? I would be a shame for her to loose her chance of benefits.

Susan - I am sorry to hear about Marissa's knee. I know that she has a lot on her plate right now. I hope that she get the issue resolved and that she can get some medical help for her knee before she separates.

Oh Susan, I'm so sorry that her knee is shot. A blessing that she will be with family for Christmas though!
I'm feeling a bit angry at the Navy, what do you mean they won't consider resurfacing the knee cap???? Isn't this an on the job injury??? Shouldn't they re-habilitate her???? She's going to suffer the rest of her life with that knee if she doesn't get it fixed, it probably wouldn't have gotten that bad if they delt with it properly to begin with!!!!
I think she should she get a lawyer to advocate for her, right away. That knee needs to be properly cared for, and it shouldn't be at her expense. If she is discharged, will she be able to get any veteran's benefits? Please make sure she gets the entire knee thing settled before the discharge.

Hi Susan, TFIF. I read your posting on the Alumni site. I just want you to know that I'm thinking and saying prayers for you and Marissa. It's a very hard decision and as parents we support them 100%. Does her fiancee know where he will be based ?

Take care of yourself, is it getting cold in Utah? Have a good weekend.
