Thank you so much for writing me back! Boy things sure have changed for both of us, Heather knows its going to be challenging and I will have the baby with me for the time she is away and mostly because my son in law will be working too. She said to me , " I want you to take care of Kendra because she needs a good mother figure." I was so grateful to hear her say that to me, it was as honor to hear her say that and of course I happily accepted the challenge. I promised my daughter I would be here for her no matter what and thats what moms just do! I am sorry to hear about your daughters knee, I truely believe that things happen for a reason and God has a plan for all of us. So great to be in touch with you again. Take care, Tina :)

Hi Susan! Its been a very long time. My daughter is now a wife and mother, she is enlisting next month and still going to achieve her life long dream of being in the Navy. How is your daughter, is she still in the Navy? I see she is married now, so very happy to hear she is doing well. Talk to you soon, Tina

Hi Susan - I always ask him if he is bringing something over and if he is saying thank you. He says that he is and he said the same thing that he is ordered to dinner and if he doesn't come on time, she comes down the street and tells him "NOW" and waits until he is walking that way. That is great that they are doing different aspects of AEGIS. Perhaps they will get stationed together since they are not working on the same thing. Not sure about you, but I am praying for San Diego!!!! Kev's school is supposed to be 8 months long, but they said that he should be finished by the end of October, which is 7 months. Time will tell. Tell her thanks for sewing for him. I sewed the last ones on his blues when he was here. They charge like $4.00 per patch to sew them on for them. Let me know if they need anything. I would like to send her a care package for taking care of Kevin. Did they get the furniture that they wanted yet? Or did they just buy the lawn futniture that they were talking about? Please tell her thanks again.

Susan - that is funny. Kevin didn't tell me that he has been mooching food from them!!! I do know that he has been doing some work on his car at his friends house down the street from Pete and Marissa. Kevin actually starts school on Monday. His grad date is already scheduled for Oct. 21. He is hoping to be stationed on the west coast when he is finished. Will be glad if he gets San Diego, or anywhere on the west coast. How much longer does Pete have? I'm so glad that they are all in this together. I am sure that their paths will cross for the entire time that they are in the Navy. As large as the Navy is, it is still a small world. Kevin has a friend that he went all the way through Boy Scouts with, who is a corpsman and been in the Navy for 6 years, he is stationed in Norfork and is getting married next weekend. Since he is so close, Kevin is planning on going down there. Like I said, small world. Take care and keep in touch and please thank Marissa for taking care of my "little boy". You wil have to private message me with their address, and I will send them a "care package". Thanks again and keep in touch. Debbie

Susan - Kevin really likes Pete and Marissa --- I am so glad that they have been reunited. Kevin has another friend who is married, that lives on base. They traveled out to Dahlgren together (Kevin drove the car with their dog and they drove the U-haul truck). He spends a lot of time at their house, which is probably where Marissa saw his car. He said that Dahlgren is soooo much different than GL. He thought he would be on hold like at GL, but got there late on a Saturday night and began an INDOC class on Monday morning. They have already given him his transfer date of Oct. 21 to leave Dahlgren. Tell Pete not to get tooo settled, they seem to move them out of there pretty quickly. Kevin is doing Aegis Spy 2 - what is Pete doing? Glad Marissa will get to be a wife and set up a houselhold with Pete. She will be so happy to see him every night and have a semi normal life for the beginning of their marrige. Take care and keep me posted. Debbie

Thanks for the comment and encouragement. I will certainly advise her based on your daughters experience. She has wanted nothing but a Navy career for at least the past year, so allowing anything to stand in the way of that would not be wise. Taking time to get the knee fully healed is the best route for her. Dr. said she should have no problems after he goes in a scopes the meniscus, routine procedure, and she should be ready to start training gradually 4 weeks after the surgery... so not too bad... but still a disappointment for that she can't go in July. Thanks again for the encouragement! :-)

Susan: Thanks for sharing. That is a good picture. Kevin is such a crazy kid. He finds friends and fun where ever he goes. Maybe they will all end up in Dahlgren together. Kevin was frocked today and is now a Petty Officer 3rd class. However, he is STILL ON HOLD!!!. Go figure.
Hope all is well with your daughter and Pete. Thanks again for the picture.

Hi Susan, I'm was grabbing the link to Ship 5 for a new Mom (there goes another one, arrgh!) and saw your most recent post about your daughter's discharge status. So glad she is home and able to now focus on rehabbing that knee! Please give her an extra hug and tell her we are all proud of her for her perseverance, integrity, willingness to serve and give everything her all during training. =) Please keep me informed of her progress and new Navy adventures as a spouse of a Sailor! :-) It's been quite the journey for you both!

If you get a chance, would you come back and add a post experiance comment in the Honesty and the Navy discussion in DEPpers. Are you planning to stay onsite for a while helping others? Who knows, perhaps one day, you and I and other Moms will stand together before some Navy Brass, with lots of bars on their sleeves, as agents of policy changes to benefit those to come?! :) It could happen. LOL

On behalf of all the DEP Moms whose hearts you have touched by sharing yours and your daughter's experiance, I extend my gratitude (and I'm sure Michelle would too) and warm wishes for all the best life has in store for you and your family. The story continues, just not quite in the way you had thought it would. :) On to the next chapter!
