It's been awhile since I've posted to this site, but there have been many more questions than answers until lately. To answer the questions I started posting on this site, you all were right. My son will get an ID card, full medical benefits, the travel discount, etc. I would even get partial medical coverage, as the caretaker of a child of a Seaman. Cool, huh?

Here's the thing. My ex got through all of the tests but the eye exam. He got a waiver from the opthamologist, and just needed the stam… Continue

Susan yes your son should have full medical and a plus is that the Navy will make him pay his child support if that is ever a problem. Your child should also have a military ID made that will help in alot of things. Remember don't let your ex slide on anything he had a son before he had the Navy.
My ex was a Marine and never support our kids now he is paying child support and if he ever catches up my sons will be 42 and 43!!!!!!

I am running days behind but am trying to get to all new members... so will try to catch up tonight.
Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

I am very interested in what you find out from the recruiter. My son is just heading for boot camp in two weeks and I have been having a hard time with him leaving but you situation makes mine look like easy street. I don't know very much about the Navy ways, but I want to learn as much as I can. So keep us all posted. We all want you and your son to get all your needs met.
I am recently divorced as well but I am on the other end of the spectrum. My ex didn't go into the Navy but needed a younger more attentive wife I guess. So I am very hopeful for you. I know this is a very hard time for you and wish you, stay strong for your child, as well as yourself. You can do this. Penny

Hey Susan! I read your story last night and I couldn't stop thinking about you. I don't know what your situation is in detail, but I understand that the Navy can work wonders on boys who need to become responsible MEN...Actually your ex's present move is probably the best thing that could happen for all of you.
Give him time in boot camp, then just wait and see, he is going to have an awakening as it were. There is hope yet. He will not forget that son. Stay strong and keep on keeping on.
