Amazing Civilians

Posted on November 19, 2009 at 12:05am 8 Comments

On the am of 11/13/09, I woke to my husband not feeling well. I called 911,and the ambulance took him to the hospital. You all know where this is going. Yes, he did not make it, he had suffered a severe ruptured blood vessel in his brain. I called the Red Cross to get word to my sailor, and they were great. Due to all the flooding in Norfolk, my sailor had to drive to Newport News to find a flight. Once he arrived there he found that there were no flights available til the next morning. A… Continue

It is Labor Day and I have been in Orlando since the 1st...I have been staying with my best friend and sista..Navy Mom Lynne and her family..On the 4th my Sailor arrived, it was the first time I have seen him since January 1st...We have had an amazing time, and my heart is aching today because my sailor is leaving to head back to his base, and tomorrow I will have to say good bye to my sista...We have managed to do many fun and exciting things in this short trip we have had together, and I am… Continue

Seeing My Sailor and Favorite Navy Mommas!!!

Posted on August 13, 2009 at 6:00pm 1 Comment

In 18 days I will be flying into Orlando and meeting up with my sista from another mista, and finally meeting another wonderful Navy Mom, who I have chatted with for a year. Then in 20 days I will get to hug my Sailor again for the first time since Christmas. It seems like so long ago. I am so anxious to get there and it feels like waiting for PIR all over again. Even though we will only have 3 nights and 4 days together, I know we will make every second count. Can't wait to see you again… Continue

Classing Up!

Posted on August 6, 2009 at 7:59pm 1 Comment

I got the call yesterday that my sailor is finally classing up. He will begin classes next Tuesday and has a tentative grad date of October 9th. Some know it has been a long wait, since he PIR'd 11/14/08. It is hard to believe he will be in almost a year. Considering he has been on hold for most of his career thus far, he is doing great. He has kept a positive and upbeat additude. He is hoping to go to California, Hawaii, or Virginia...I don't care as long as he is happy. There are many… Continue

Finally Out of Great Lakes!

Posted on May 3, 2009 at 11:30am 2 Comments

It has been 170 days since D has graduated from boot camp. From being on medical hold, to being disqualified from the program he had dreamed of and worked hard for, to relcassing to Aviation Tech, taking 5 weeks of ATT classes, and being on hold yet again, he is finally in Pensacola for A-school. Who knows how long he will set on hold. He says he is just happy to be in Florida. He has many friends and his second family there waiting for him. He has been patient. I can't believe it has been 8… Continue

Finally Leaving Great Lakes!!!

Posted on April 18, 2009 at 9:00am 0 Comments

The official orders have come in, and D will be leaving on the 30th to head to Pensacola. His birthday is tomorrow the 19th, what a great present for him. We are sooooo excited! D is anxious to see all his friends that are there waiting for him. It has been along time coming. There will be yet another hold for him, but he does not care," I will be in Florida" as he keeps saying. Thanks to all my mommas that have been here for us these long 5 months. Sharing your stories of your sailors have… Continue

He is almost in Florida!

Posted on April 5, 2009 at 9:30am 0 Comments

The time is coming that D is finishing up with ATT. He says he will comp on Monday. He is hoping to be on his way to Pensacola on the 15th. We will not get too excited about the move until the official orders come in. He really wants to get there for his 19th birthday on the 19th. He has had some ups and downs, but seems to be in better spirits, knowing that it is getting closer to him seeing all the people that are in Florida waiting for him. I want to thank all my wonderful Navy Moms, you… Continue

Finally Classing Up!

I got the call from my sailor today that he is finally classing up. He will start his ATT classes before he heads to A-school in Pensacola. This has been along wait, more so for me than him I think. He sounded so excited on the phone when he called. All he has talked about was getting to Florida, to catch up with his friends that are already there, and new ones that he will meet, he is also anxious to see his Momma Lynne, and lil Bro Trev, again. Keep your fingers, and toes crossed that he… Continue

Sad News

We got the news yesterday, that the medical waiver that D was wating for from Pensacola, got denied, meaning he is disqualified from the SAR Program. His dreams were taken away from him by one persons decision. After seeing several other medical professionals outside of the Navy, and in the Navy all of them agreed that the medical condition D had when he was younger was no longer an issue, yet somehow after bootcamp he was flagged for yet one more waiver. That was the final decision to take… Continue

He's here for Christmas

Posted on December 25, 2008 at 8:17pm 0 Comments

My Sailor arrived yesterday 12/24/08. He looked tired, but amazing. Only a few people knew he was coming home, so what a surprise for many that have seen him. He called his grandparents this morning, and had them convinced he was still in Chicago. Once they arrived for dinner, my sailor opended the door, and surprised them. It was great to see the look on their faces when they saw him standing there, when it had been just 20 minutes early he was talking to them, telling them he was on the train… Continue

"Portrait of a Friend"

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

Hey been really busy at work but wanted to say thanks for the info and update you. M has an arachoid cyst. He called and told me to backoff cause it is causing him problems with a mom asking questions. They are trying to discharge him now. All I want is a medical release form to get MRI's and CAT scan to dr's here. They aren't doing anything for him and i believe he should be on meds to reduce cyst according to DR. here.
Also in case i don't say it later have a great time seeing D!!!!!!

I'm so glad Dakota is doing so well, and I hope that all his dreams come true!! Please keep me posted..I'm definitely in his cheering section!!!! Brandon is doing well at school..after it finally started!! He has a tentative grad date of Sept. 2nd, and should be home for 2 weeks sometime after that...as you know, it won't come soon enuf!! He has been kicking around his picks as well, and looks as though he may be leaning towards Japan, but we'll see. It's hard, but I have to let him do what he wants to do...right? Please take care, give my best to Dakota, and I hope to talk to you soon!

Reading your blog about D sounds like Dan. Dan went in Oct 6 and finally got sent down to FL in Dec for one day then got leave to come home for christmas for a few days. Then back to FL he is in SAR and having a problem with his sinus and that particular pool so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Tallked to Mike today he can't get in to see the Dr again until sept so I'm getting a nurologlist here to request his medical records and if I can get him home he will see him ASAP. But I will have to drive since he shouldn't be flying. So he is asking for a leave to get this done.
Both Dan & Mike went to school in Bloomfield Mike switched to Greece the last few months of his senior year where his dad moved to. I have a doggie daycare, training and pet grooming business in Victor. So i have a lot of clients from Honeoye Falls and I grew up in fishers. So we may even know some of the same people. It is truly a very small world.
