"Beth - I started a sub-group under Navy4Moms "OCS Graduate Moms" specifically for the January 30, 2011 (Class 09-11) a month or so before my son left for OCS. After awhile, someone in the group suggested we start a Facebook page, and…"
"Beth - Although there is a lot of information on the Navy4Moms site, you may want to check out the Facebook page that was started by/for family and friends of your son's OCS class. Here's a link to that page: …"
"Hi Sara - My son Nick is in OCS Class 09-11 which means he's one class ahead of your boyfriend, and today he starts his fourth week of OCS. We have had one quick phone call, one very brief email, and a few letters. He's…"
My son also started with 09-11 and is now in holding. He was bummed at first but is now looking at it as a chance to get stronger and do some studying before going into another class. I think he said he would be going into 10-11. I was hearing…"
"My son is Ryan, he too was accepted for pilot training. He has a chemistry degree from LSU. He has been working in the DC area for 3 years. He is originally from the New Orleans area where the winters are quite mild. She will adjust to the…"
"Hi Tina- I haven't seen you on the group FB page, maybe I'm missing you. Please try to join in, if you haven't already done so. Lots of good info and support. Make a face book page and go to Friends/Family January 30, 2011 Navy…"
"Lorraine - I'm happy to hear that they were able to have church privileges today. I'm assuming that the shopping excursion was for those in holding and not the 9-11 OCS group; is that correct? I'm also grateful…"
"Isn't it funny how we still think they are kids. The oldest of the "kids" is probably 28. Frankly the older I get the more anyone under 30 looks like a kid to me. I try looking at Rachel as if she were a grown woman and I just…"
Hannah said there were alot of kids at Bible study today. She did not mention Rachel but next time I talk to her I will ask. She said she saw all the girls exercising the other day. All looked tired but doing ok. They are all very…"
She says they do alot of exercising and cleaning. She said that other OC who are further along in the program are working with them on skills etc. It is amazing how long she can talk to me and can tell me what the others are doing. They…"
Thank you so much fo rthe update! I was pretty certain Bridget would not like her haircut. How are Hannah's spirits? I am praying for her. What do they do in holding, was she able to tell you?
Just talked to Hannah again. She saw Bridget today. They only talked briefly but said she was doing ok. Bridget said that she hates her haircut !!! They made it to the point where they don't have to wear their poopie suits…"
Nice to meet you, I am also on facebook, if you want to become friends there as well. Of course we will see each other at graduation, I am trying to be positive. I was glad to hear that their "Wake Up Wed." will not start until tomorrow, except that it will be bitter cold! I did not know that I would be this nervous. I have a son that joined the navy out of HS. He surprised me, but I don't remember being this nervous...
We did hear from Ryan on that first night. It was good to hear from him. I guess we won't hear anything now for about 4 weeks, right? And that we are to remember that no news is good news. I remember reading that from one of the places I have wandered in this site! Have a great day.
No- my son graduated from Erskine this past May. He has so many friends though that graduated from there. He was down there visiting many times. Did you hear from Nick yesterday? Ryan called us in the morning right before he walked in so we are thinking that is why we didn't get the " I made it here" phone call. Sounds like this week will be one of the worst for our guys. I will be praying for both of them.
Nice to meet you Tina! I was excited to see that Nick had graduated from Clemson and was so close. Who knows, maybe our sons will get to know each other as well. It would be nice to meet sometime. I am still trying to figure out how to maneuver this forum. I haven't taken the plunge to facebook but it might also be a good way to keep in touch with other moms. Hope your day is going well,
Oh no first names are fine...well, Just saw you're OCS...ask in the OCS group. To change your settings go to the box in the upper right hand corner...see "settings" click on that and then it will take you to the settings page.
Welcome to N4M’s. This site is full of information, support and encouragement. My son graduated boot camp Jan 29, 2010 and is now stationed in Sicily Italy as an IT.
