Any faimlies with sailors on carriers? My son is just going to report to the Nimitz... just thought it would be nice to get to know other parents whose sailors are on them and how much contact do you get?

I will be there, and bringing my kids, but they will be doing rides and such. Just wondering if anyone is bringing nametags or anything? I won't possibly remember everyone's names, even meeting them there.

Trina, The Enterprise is currently in the shipyard in Newport News, not far from Norfolk, and will most likely be there until she goes underway next year. My son has been there for about 6 months now.

Trina, It was nice meeting you and the others at the Meet and Greet today. What a relaxed and fun group of young ladies. (I can say that!!) I am only sorry that I couldn't stay longer. Maybe next time. I sure hope that we can plan one of these Meet and Greets evry month or two so we can get to know one another better. JJ

Hey Trina, I am sure Spence is anxious to get out of there. I went back up to NY again this past weekend for the Memorial Day parade that my son marched in and his girlfriend rode up with me and she told me that the last my son's group heard is December for their graduation date. I knew they wouldn't graduate later classes before the ones that have been there for so long. Actually I think once October gets here (the new fiscal year) you are going to see alot of sailors moving around quickly. I hope you get up to NY before the summer ends it is so beautiful up there and I know you will like it very much. Good luck to Spence and keep in touch.

Did I miss the time and location of the Meet/Greet? I know that it was said to be on Saturday, but TIME and LOCATION is helpful. LOL I really want to meet this group!

Hey Trina, I was just up in Ballston Spa with my son and he is in class 0901 and they have been told they will graduate on time (10/09/09). Sounds a little fishy to me, I think they are getting the run around. Also my sons roommate did say something about a class that is ahead of them and they will graduate in November. Who knows................By the way, have you been to Ballston Spa, it is actually very pretty up there. My son is living in a really nice apartment, much different environment than Goose Creek.

Hi Trina, I live in Ham Lake, MN and my son was at GL but recently was sent home due to breathing issues. But I have a friend who lives in East Bethel-Cedararea and her son is to grad GL on May lst. We should do a get together.
