"Oh, I know what you mean! I will definitely pray for him, because I know toward the end they can really start putting on the pressure to qualify by a certain time, and will say all manner of threats "if he doesn't". As…"
"Becci - If they don't pass the board, they usually get the opportunity to re-board at a later date. I'm not sure if anyone ever gets a 3rd chance, but I'm sure if they do it depends on the instructors and other people in…"
"Thanks thanks and thanks, guys! After looking over my info yesterday he asked me "Do you wanna be a nuke?" I just laughed at him, lol. It'd be interesting to try, but I feel like I would much rather do something in…"
"I don't know how many of you are still around that were around when I mentioned it before...but I went to a recruiter today to talk about maybe enlisting, and he asked me all the usual questions and had me take the practice test there in the…"
"Dana - Ha! I showed Casey the pictures on your page, and he told me who it was! I'd heard his name (his last name, yours too I guess then, haha) before but don't think I ever met him in person! Small world. The…"
"Dana, you are right with your information! Balfour Beatty (we lived in Quiet Harbor, just across the street from Dolphin Bay) was an absolutely wonderful choice for us, especially now looking back from very start to very finish (we had our…"
"Hi Terry! We're doing great; we have our truck packed up and we're planning on leaving for Groton with our stuff tomorrow morning! Really, the whole process seems very overwhelming at the start, but mainly what is happening is…"
"Vallery - Thanks for writing. Aaron should be in Groton Friday afternoon sometime. He hopes to be able to move Sara there the following week-end. They are both rather independent so I doubt I can convince them to call you if they…"
"Hi Terry, please let me know if you or Aaron have any questions at all about Groton! I don't know everything, but we're about a month ahead of him as far as transition goes, so if we have any words of wisdom or advice for anything, I…"
I'm 24 years old and from Parkersburg, WV. My husband Casey joined the Navy October 2009, PIRed on July 2nd 2010, completed most of the nuclear pipeline in Goose Creek, SC and Saratoga Springs, NY before finally being re-rated to BM. Now we are headed to San Diego, California for his first sea tour, aboard the LPD23 Anchorage!! I'm so excited!
I am here to support or represent my:
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be flexible. Period.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Vallery - Thanks for writing. Aaron should be in Groton Friday afternoon sometime. He hopes to be able to move Sara there the following week-end. They are both rather independent so I doubt I can convince them to call you if they have questions, but I'll certainly let them know of your offer. How are you doing? Any word on how much longer you will be there? Does Casey have any idea what type of job they will be sending him to? I have a lot of questions about how it all works, but have been afraid to ask Aaron as it is still a painful subject to him. Keep in touch..
Valerie, I saw your news and my heart goes out to both of you. Transitions are so hard. I wanted to wish you and Casey good luck and to send my prayers to you. The Navy will have something better for him. My son's friends who left the Nuke program are so much happier in their new assignments.
Vallery, I'm not sure how I saw a 1 on your profile name! You are not alone! I travel quiet a lot with my job so if you do not hear from me for a day or two, please don't think that you are not important :) I will get back to you! When I finished writing you last night, you and your husband were the last prayer before I drifted off to sleep. You will be my first this morning. Hang in there!
Hey I haven't talked to you in a long time. How is your husband doing? Is he still in A school? My boyfriend just started power school and he's already been pretty busy. He said the next 6 months are going to be kind of tough. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm coming down to Charleston this weekend though so i'm excited for that. Do you still like goose creek?
Hi Vallery!! My name is Tricia, and I saw your post on Nuke Page! My Husband just graduated BC 11/13. He got to Charleston on wednesday! I will be going up for a visit next week for Thanksgiving! I am almost 9 months preggo, so I will not be making the move until after our son is born! (due to some complications as of late!)
I can't wait to get up there and meet all my new neighbors. If you have Facebook, My name is Tricia Burke, I keep up with that much better than on here! :) Looking forward to keeping in contact and meeting you soon!
Thanks Vallery. We aren't quite sure about Thanksgiving yet. His roomate told him they get that time off, but we didn't know for sure if he will be able to come home (we're about 300 miles away) since he just got there today. He is very homesick though & if he does get it off I will be there to pick him up as soon as he can leave:) If for some reason he can't come home I will definately pass your invite on to him & thank you again.
My husband's been here since the end of June, but I was photographer for a wedding in July, so me and our daughter didn't move down till the first week of August. Yeah, she knows she's cute, she's such a ham! Kids are always a challange that you kinda adapt to, haha. I'm not sure if there's ever going to be an easy time to have kids when living the Navy life, haha. We're talking about having another, and we've realized we'd rather do it when he's here than try later and risk him not being here for the birth. I don't know, haha, it's tough, and there's not really a right or wrong time in this place, lol! My husband is on T track right now, waiting for power school. He's on cleaning crew, so I lucked out and get to see him more often! A few of us girls get together randomly, haha, so I'll be sure to keep you updated so if you want, you can come along! Do you have a facebook? A bunch of us are in this group Thursday Girls, where girls from here on base get together at different places every thursday and eat, play with the kids, etc. Everyone's very friendly, so if you want I can have you added to the group so you'll get the emails! Normally we're at people's houses or parks and such.
Also, I didn't notice this last time, but you have my all-time favorite song on here (The Scientist)!!!!! That makes me happy =]
