Hi, I am moving to Keller in mid July. Our son is graduating boot camp on June 19 and then heading to SC for nuke school. He was originally set to graduate on 5/29, but he was moved to medical for three weeks. Just got out of the medical division ...

- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was proud and encouraged it
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- 1) Patience, 2) Appreciation for the young men who have made the Navy a career choice.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

- Vicki - Forgot to tell you. There is a group set up for April PIR 05/29. Join it as we are all on there if are kids are PIR 05/29.

- Hi Vicki, We are planning on going to PIR. I haven't made our reservations yet. Waiting on the grad packet to be sure. I am glad the div are together as there are no other moms on here for guys in 204. I told Matt all the girls names that their moms were on here with me in my last letter. I will tell him Brent today when I write. Have you made your reservations yet? We are trying to decide to drive or fly. It would be approx a 17/18 hour drive for us but in the long run I think it would save us a lot of money.

- Sweet!...cannot wait to get our phone call!...Shawn's sister is driving here today from North Dallas so in case he calls this weekend she will be here to talk to him also...and I've heard through the grapevine that the PIR pkgs. are in the mail to the parents now...maybe today??...Yes, we are flying and have made the arrangements through Expedia...they came in at 274. with the 18. insurance to be able to change them up if needed so not a bad deal...we also got a really good deal on a mini-van rental through Enterprise for 345. for 5 days through them also...so we are set from DFW or ORD (O'Hare)...the vehicle and the 3 rooms at SpringHill Suites (and got a Mariott discount there since it's one of their properties)!!...so I"m thinkin we're good and ready...just gotta click these days off and go see our boys! Cannot Wait!!...well, have a fabulously WINDY Saturday...am headed out to the yard to try to catch up with all the weeds!! (LOL!)...and yes, would love to hook up with you when we're all up there!! *Anita

- My son is in DIV 928. It should be a great graduation. I did get a phone call yesterday and that was wonderful. We have not talked for 20 minutes for a long time. He sounded great. He is looking forward to his next orders. He said they get them up early and yell at them all the time. Hope your sailor is doing well and you get a phone call and a lot of letters.

- Vicki - How are you doing? I am doing ok and trying to keep myself busy. Got thru another long weekend. Still haven't received a phone call but rumor has it we may get one on Saturday but I hope we get a letter before that and I hope his letter has some details in it. You know it is really so hard to let go and watch them grow up and slowly leave us isn't it. I was thinking this week end how you want them to grow up and succeed but at the same time I don't want him to! Do you ever feel like that?

- Hi Vicki, I am really beginning to get confused about their PIR date but I guess we will have just have to wait until we get the packet. The computer says 05/29 but I have read here from different moms 06/12 and now 06/03 so I am not sure. I was reading the email from Anita. Do you know anything about them making their final job decisions? I thought that was already in stone??

- Morning Vicki! We haven't started making "concrete" reservations yet for Great Lakes. Was beginning to look at things and Shawn's recruiter called and said that his grad date in the computer was June 3 at 12:06 pm?? which doesn't make any sense since it is a Wednesday??? He's confused and trying to clarify it for us. He's still going with the 5/29 date on the website though. We're waiting for our PIR pkg. to arrive in the mail with the base passes and all that if Shawn doesn't send the date in a letter.
...Got our first REAL letter from Shawn yesterday in the mail! He was upbeat and positive...said that they're doing their first physical 'test' this past Wednesday. The food is surprisingly good...that the letter was so sloppy as he was writing it in the dark as it's the only time they have!!...so I was glad to hear the upbeat nature. Shawn is going into the ET....or electronics technician of the AECT program. (I think)....he passed the nuke test and was going to go that direction but I don't think he's going to do that...the ET sounded more appealing to him for his life and what he wants....so I know for awhile he will stay at Great Lakes...unless he about faces and does go Nuke...then he also will go to Charleston. We will know more after his 3/2 date when they do the "final" job choose up there in Great Lakes!

- Hi Vicki, Matt is in Div 204 with a grad date of 05/29. He is my youngest and our only son. He turned 22 on March 31. I miss him so much. We live in Georgia and work for the State of Ga as a HR Manager. I worked in accounting for years. Have you gotten a letter or call yet? I rushed to my mailbox yesterday afternoon just hoping for a letter and nothing. I was so disappointed but maybe there will be one today. There is a group started for PIR 05/29.

- Yes Maam!!!!! WE are all going (Mason, Cassandra, Gpa, and I)...along with Shawn's girlfriend Jes....not sure if we can get her in the graduation part but she will get to spend time with him over the weekend. Are you going to be able to go??? Have been looking at flights for DFW to Chicago....running about 300. at present per person. Keller, huh? Girl you're just up the road from us! What is your son slated to do in the Navy?

- No, he just went in on Monday, got the 15 second "I'm here" call at 1AM yesterday. I don't expect the box for a week or so, and the form letter for about 10 days. He sounded tense and serious, something I've never heard....LOL. Guess all those people with smiling faces welcoming him to his new world got on his nerves a bit...LOL. I'm doing very well. Just a few tearing up moments, usually when someone asks me how I'm holding up. I'm staying very busy at work, practicing on NOT having to take care of anyone but me....it's wierd, but necessary, I guess. Can't wait to hear when he graduates....it will be quite a love-fest for him, from all the people who want to fly and participate......
