I just realized that the zip code my son sent is not the same as the one on the RTC site. Which zip code are you using?

Lacy Dylan's Mom, it is actually a lot more expensive for me to fly into Milwaukee. It's probably because I am coming from South Carolina.

Ann, we put some holiday cards from the girl scouts in our holiday packages. It's too bad we didn't have your cards in time. However, my husband works at Waccamaw Hospital, and they are putting together some packages for the troops, I will see if they would want them. If not, I will find out the best way to send them to our troops in the sand box in time for the holidays. I will get back to you soon

we meet the third Thursday of each month (not in Dec) at 7:00 at the American Legion Hall in Little River,. We will be marching in the North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade on Sat. Dec. 5 on Main Street. If you would like to talk to me some more, you can call my home at 281-1206. I love Navy4Moms and it was my savior when Steven left for boot camp and it still is, but the Grand Strand Blue Star Mothers keeps me busy doing volunteer work that makes me feel I am doing something for the troops. Have a great Thanksgiving. Call me anytime.

Yes that was me in The Sun News. I belong to the Grand Strand Blue Star Mothers and I just love it. It is so good for me to be with other military moms that can really understand what we go through. I would love to meet and talk with you anytime.

Hey,Ann, I know how hard it is when your son goes to boot camp. I see you live in Longs, I live in North Myrtle Beach. Since we are so close and you want to talk face to face or need a hug from someone in the same boat (haha) I am really close by. You can e-mail at cmuir18@aol.com. I am having difficulty with my cell phone right now and am in the process of getting a new one and will give you the number when I get it, if you would like.

Hi Ann,
Happy Birthday to Ryan and yes, he will never be too old to sing "Happy Birthday" to. Cherish every precious moment. We will be spending Thanksgiving Day with my mother at her home and then on Saturday we will be having a big family dinner for Thanksgiving at my home. My son will be able to return home for this holiday; we are truly blessed. I know there will be many holidays in the future spent without him being able to come home, so I am making the most of the moments I have now. Best wishes being sent to you and yours during this time of thanksgiving!

Hi Ann,
I tried to catch you on the chat last night, but I'm not sure I understood how to do it properly, and by the time I think I figured it out, you were gone, I guess! Just wanted to check in to see how your weekend went. We spent the weekend packing my daughter and son-in-law's apartment up and moving the rest of their things to the storage in Charleston, so it can all be shipped. She got her ticket yesterday - December 12th, on the same flight he was on last week. Coastal is out all week, so she's going to my sister's for the week in upstate NY, since my sister can't fly for health reasons, and they likely won't see each other for several years, then two more weeks of the semester and that'll be it. My husband's already talking about tickets to Hawaii for spring break...

Hey Ann,
I know what you mean about thinking other people think you are crazy. Maybe they do, however, you have a multitude of Navy moms who know exactly how you feel and don't think you are crazy one bit! You are a Mother of a son who has joined with the greatest military in the world. We know those feelings you are experiencing all to well. I think back to the first time I went grocery shopping after my son left and I came across a particular snack item that he really, really liked but I did not buy it because he was not at home to enjoy it. I stood there in the store staring at a snack item with my eyes filling up with tears as people walked by. Crazy? Nope, just a mother missing her son. You hang in there . . . we "crazies" will stick together, ha, ha! :)

YAY on getting through the "BOX" hurdle! It's a toughie! You need to go to the SC group and read all about our BOX experiences! They're a hoot and very similar! Have a great day!
