Hey Lukes mama, Does his page actually say "pending"? Or are you at the "No decision has been made" ? Either way, it is 4AM on Thanksgiving morning and I got up to set out the turkey( which still seems frozen solid) and naturally had to come check...

I am hoping something is going on with his application. The page has totally changed. Though it still says "No decision has been made on your application" but it has all the schools he would like to attend and SAT scores. It use to be small little...

Thanks Ashley and writelefty. It is a big relief without a doubt. The nicest thing was that even though I check the site a million tomes a day, Hank checked today and saw it first himself. I had already checked twice, but when he woke up late and ...

I am sooooooo jealous. and THANKS ALOT HANKSMOM! Now we will all be checking it every 20 seconds. Those turkeys will just sit frozen in the sink, no potatoes will get peeled or mashed. Yams will be ignored and pies go unbaked. And it is all your f...

I am nervous.I just wish my status would say something new just to make it seem like someone is actually looking at it. Writelefty, this is only temporary insanity. Once we get an answer we will all be sane again. :)

Hello everyone. My son sent in his application Sept 30. We check it daily and sometimes more. He is getting nervous and thinks he should also apply to the Army ROTC. He has applied for a teir 1 and has a 4.12 GPA and scored 1650 on the SAT. The w...

Let's try to think this through! If EVERYONE here is checking the Status Update site 10X a day and spends the rest of their time thinking about checking it--then wouldn't we all be considered normal and therefore sane? OR Is it that we have all ju...

I hate waiting. I too have been infected with the "check the Navy website" bug. I think I've checked three times today. Talk about a rapid-onset illness!

Hello everyone. I just learned about the website, so what's the first thing I do? Check it. I found what everyone else seems to be finding... nothing yet. Sean applied for a Tier 1 scholarship, he wants to be an aerospace engineer/pilot. He has r...

As moms we spend every day protecting our babies, loving and nurturing them. I can understand your mother’s concerns. It’s a great idea to join our group where she can ask questions about her concerns.

The good news about NROTC is they have a grace period. It’s my understanding you are not obligated until the first day of your sophomore year. You should also know once you receive the notice of being awarded a scholarship it is up to you to accept it. If you plan on accepting the scholarship you go to the next step.

My son was accepted at his top choice school, which cost $52,000/year and the Naval ROTC scholarship, is making his dreams come true, in return he feels honored and proud to serve his country. The ROTC route isn’t for everybody. My daughter is a non-conformist and this wouldn’t be a good environment for her, she’s satisfied attending a community college. I’m new to all of this, but I think the bottom line is if you don’t want the Navy, they don’t want you either. I guess that is why they give a grace period.

My son is currently on the campus of his college getting familiar with everything and the students that are around this summer who are also in the ROTC program have been very helpful. He’s now belongs to a Navy community that is there to help him succeed.

If you decide to go forward you should also check the college policies as they pertain to ROTC programs. Some colleges really want the kids on their campus others just tolerate them. I read Harvard doesn’t give their students credit for the required Naval courses. Some of the mom’s on this website have kids at RPI and that college pays for the ROTC student’s room and board. My son’s college policy is to reversed his financial aid once he accepted his NROTC scholarship leaving him short of funds for room, board and medical insurance. You would think that the scholarship would first cover the family contributions portion of his school bill but that’s not the policy at MIT. They reverse money they awarded for his education. Other schools have different policies, so you might want to look into the school’s policies if that is a concern before you decide on your top choice school.

Good luck in whatever you do!
